Hostal Poncebos

Only a 5 minutes walk to the funicular station. Plenty of parking spaces for hotel guest. The budget room with shared bathroom has a sink inside so pretty convenient. There are 5 bathrooms to be shared by 10 rooms so no need to wait in the morning. Staff were helpful and efficient. Breakfast was good and more than enough. Must try the set dinner which was amazing with so many dishes and wine also for only €16. Highly recommended.

Very cozy, small hostel. Rooms were clean, there was heating but still some small spots of mold were visible on the walls and behind the bed (due to humidity). Breakfast was poor, but tasty. The personel was very friendly and open, the location of the hostel is amazing, just in the middle of the mountains. There is restaurant at the hotel where you can eat lunch and dinner (from 20:00), food was very good!

Intended to stay 2 nights but stayed for 4 eventually. Staff were all very friendly and helpful with good service. Food was good and plenty of choice. Provided us with secure storage for our bicycles

I was there as part of a hiking group. We stayed there the first night, after hiking Ruta del Cares. The Hostal manager, Ramiro, was very helpful and advice us to park the cars at the funicular parking lot (we'd return in 5 days), which is less than 10 minute walk to the Hostal. He also suggested that we could leave some stuff at the place, which we did. He also provide advice about the route we'd take.

The dinner is a set course (menu del dia) typical in Spain, with many options. Everybody enjoy their choices. The breakfast is more basic but good enough.

The rooms are comfortable, and there are 5 different shared showers so no need to wait

The location is just perfect for hiking or visiting Picos de Europa.

The rest of the staff was also nice and helpful, and the young man working in the afternoon speaks good English.

Superb value hotel. Basic, but clean and friendly. The young man who works the afternoons/evenings speaks brilliant English.

I had a small en suite single person room. Small but more than enough. Great price of about€35/night.

Great simple 3 course meal €14. Beer €1.80, half bottle of wine €2.80.

There are no shops or many other bars/hotels nearby but it is ideally located for the 8 mile gorge hike to Cain (and back) and a short drive and then brilliant (but strenuous) hike up to Naranjo de Bulnes (from the Sotres trail).

Also a great base from which to ride out from. Had x4 really good, action filled, days based here. Couldn't have wanted more.

I had a medical emergency and was not able to make it. Despite no obligation to refund me for my booked stay they did. Thanks! I am very excited to visit when I am better and will rebook here when I do.

Such a wonderful place to be. Very quiet and peaceful besides it is surrounded with many restaurants and bars

Great place! Doors can be loud at night so pack earplugs.

One of the most lovely places where I have ever been. Super located, rooms nice and clean. And stuff are incredible! O have been there around 4 years ago and still I remember those lovely people.

This hostel has a perfect location for the Rutal del Cares hike and for hikes around Bulnes/Sotres. The rooms are very clean, as are the bathrooms - located in the corridor. The dinner menu is of incredible value: two main courses, a desert and a bottle of wine only for 12 euros. The breakfast also offered some choices.Staff does not speak much English, but friendly.

What an incredible experience! The staff were the loveliest we have ever encountered in the whole of Spain! They really go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and valued. This was the best value place (accommodation, food and drink) that we have ever stayed at. There was a group of 9 of us cycling across the Picos, the staff were so patient and accommodating with all of our “foreign people” requests. Outstanding value, outstanding views, outstanding service and outstanding cleanliness. They made us bespoke soup and salad to cater for our dietary requirements. So much bread and coffee available throughout the day. They even gave us a free souvenir from the mountains! Could not wish for a better stay. Look no further, stay at Hostal Poncebos x

Hostal Poncebos is 500 m from Bulnes Funicular Railway on the Cares Route in the Picos de Europa National Park. Rooms have free Wi-Fi and views over Cares River and the mountains.

All rooms are heated and feature light wood furniture, and most have a TV and a private bathroom. Those with shared bathroom facilities come with a sink in the room.

A free breakfast is offered in the cafeteria and restaurant. Hostal Poncebos also has a vending machine for drinks.

Free on-site parking is available. The A8 Motorway is a 30-minute drive away and it is around 100 km to Santander and Gijón from Hostal Poncebos.

Great camiraro who works hard to make everyone comfortable and well fed. Clean rooms. Hearty country food which is incredibly good value as can be said for the whole hostel. I've been back three times and will be taking my children in Oct.

Of course the reason to be here is the amazing location, easy walk to the Ruta De Cares and the funicular or path up to Bulnes and beyond.

They stock the amazing Maestra Duplo Lupoluo beer too!!
