Hotel Rural Restaurante Peña Castil

Good experience for the hotel: The rooms are renovated and showers/bathrooms are great! Breakfast is ok albeit a bit scarce (packaged pastries, and only jamon to go with your bread, no cheese or eggs). The restaurant, however, is a delight: the ribs, lamb, cachopo and burger are outstanding! Service speaks great English and is very helpful. We also had a delightful vermouth de naranja, asparragus with goat cheese sauce, croquetas de setas and juicy, tender beef baos. A real treat!

Ok. We hiked here and just wanted a cider- then I decided to have a burger. No expectations. I’m a true burger snob and - oh my god. Easily top 5 burgers of my life. Didn’t take the photo till I was almost done, but carmelized shrooms, fresh local cheese, beef and bun and homemade sauce… unreal.

We came here for dinner and had a delicious meal. Friendly service and great food! Hit the spot after a day of hiking. Definitely recommend if you’re in Sotres!

Lovely little hotel in Sotres. Very helpful staff. Excellent dinner and good value.

I stayed 2 nights in Sotres. First night I ate tapas here, crispy pancakes with blue cheese, walnuts and honey.... really good and the cider, 3€ a bottle! I didn't finish the bottle, but the gentleman kept it for me for the following night, when I ate fabada.

I recommend this place, staff are polite and efficient and the food is excellent. I will definitely be back again.

The staff was very welcoming and accommodating and that made our stay especially nice. The room was very clean and tidy. We loved our stay.
We also had food at the restaurant (highly recommended). The food was great and the service was superb. They had some interesting food options on the menu and the quality of the ingredients was excellent. The room for breakfast/restaurant has also been recently renovated and kept in very good condition, therefore very nice too.

Only cons of the hotel: there is very little noise insulation between the rooms

Top choice in Sotres either for sleep & eat :) Warm welcome in cozy comfortable hotel was followed by excelent dinner.

Hike during the day and satisfy yourself with tasteful sea and local food in the evening. Can´t wait to be back!

Very nice owner Señor Peňa, One of the best restaurants we visited on our vacation. Fresh ingredients, great taste, I've never eaten octopus like here before.

Hotel room very clean and comfortable, modern facilities, lovely large bathroom, wonderful hikes in the Picos de Europa.

I little gem in Asturias mountains! Such a friendly owner and staff, showing great hospitality even we did not speak the same language. Very nice and clean rooms, but the biggest surprise was the food in the restaurant! Literally they make the best food in the area and not only! Quality of ingredients, well served and prepared dishes! If you are in the area you have to try it!

A lovely hotel in the wonderful tiny mountain village of Sotres. Great opportunities for hiking. Free parking nearby. Food at the restaurant was great. Breakfast was very basic, but included. Staff was very friendly and kind. It felt like staying with friends or family rather than at a hotel. Make sure you have enough gas before driving up to Sotres because there are no gas stations in the town and the nearest one is 19 km away and 1000 meters in elevation below.

Great place, we stayed for three days.
Clean, at the entrance of Sotres. Good breakfast. Mr Miguel is great, very helpful. Also al the staff is great, and the waitresses speak English which is really rare at the region as we found out.
But the big surprise was the restaurant.
Amazing dishes with big portions. Probably the best we tasted at picos de Europa.

The food is truly amazing, and the family is very kind, attentive and runs this hotel & restaurant like a well oiled machine. I had a wonderful stay.

Fantastic place to stay, its in a really small town, so not much to do there, but the place gives you great access to hikes in the area.
The restaurant there in this hotel was very nice, the staff helpful, and the hotel was clean and friendly.
The breakfast in the morning was substantial also, ensuring that you get your fill before a days bike.
The drive up to sotres is not for the faint hearted, take your time as there are a lot of dangerous curves

Very friendly owner who showed us a short circular walking route around the village and lent us walking poles. Spectacular views of the mountains around. Great coffee and Cabrales for lunch too.

Small but comfortable rooms, friendly, multilingual staff, excellent food and just a few minutes walk from multiple trails. Owner and staff know the local countryside and are willing to share.

Spent 5 days hiking using hotel as a base. Clean, comfortable, great food and owner and staff work hard to make guests comfortable. Charming hotel, wonderful town (pop 136),striking scenery, great hikes. As good as travel gets.

We came for a short coffee break and were amazed by the delicious cheese cake, chocolate ice cream and tarte de limon. The staff welcomed us in a very friendly and open way. We would highly recommend!

Delightful historic hotel with attentive service, a good restaurant and friendly bar. Breakfast and local advice served me well. The bed & bedding were comfortable and the shower water pressure fine.

Despite my pre-travel apprehension about driving up the mountain road to get there, Hotel Peña Castil was the accommodation I am most inclined to return to from my trip to Asturias and Cantabria.

We did not stay here, but have eaten here for dinner twice because the food was so good!! Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in Sotres

Excellent location for hiking paradise in all directions. The staff is amazing ! Rooms are cozy and clean. And, the food is excellent !
