So many great things about this shop!

First of all, Ana, the owner of the shop, is so kind and talented. She has a passion for her craft, and you can tell she puts her heart into every piece she creates. She is also such a nice person and very welcoming and friendly.

I took a class with her and her associate Paky, and I learned how to make a rug on the loom, which was really interesting and fun. Both Ana and Paky were very encouraging and patient instructors. They explained things so clearly that, even with my imperfect Spanish, I was able to understand everything. Hey also treated me to some traditional local wine from the shop.

I also bought a wide variety of Ana’s rugs, which are all made in the traditional way, to give as gifts. Once my family saw the pictures, everyone wanted one, so I ended up with quite a big pile. I got everything from little bathroom rugs to big area rugs, plus a woven wall hanging and other gifts, and she shipped them directly to my house for a minimal cost, so I wouldn’t have to try to take them on the buses back home.

Ana also connected me with the lady who runs the Alpujarra museum in town, and I went down and took a guided tour through the museum. She also had recommendations for other things to do/see/eat in and around Bubión.

I highly recommend this shop if you’re looking for authentic, hand-made gifts (for yourself or others) from La Alpujarra. I also recommend taking a class to learn how to make your own rug; it’s such an enjoyable craft to try, and you walk away with a unique keepsake. And if you have questions about other things to do in the area, Ana is a great person to talk to for ideas.

We booked the course Artesano por un día. It was one of the best experiences I had in la Alpujarra. Weaving the rug was so much fun and the owner is the nicest person ever. The rug came out beautiful! It is also a shop with many lovely handmade souvernirs. If you are around you have to visit!

It was a super fun experience. Ana, the owner, was extremely nice, easy to talk to and offered us some wine that got me a bit drunk! 10/10 recommend this place! 👍🏻

An absolutely amazing place!! I came here to do the workshop to make a jarapa and it was so much fun and so satisfying to be able to leave with a rug that I have woven myself. The shop sells a massive range of beautiful things and has gorgeous views across the hills.

We had an awesome time at this class. Knowing Spanish definitely added to the experience as we were able to talk with Ana and learn a lot about her life and the local culture. However, it is definitely a doable experience if you don't know Spanish, but know that the more you do, the more you will get out of the experience!

Wonderful spot. Watch beautiful artisanal rugs woven on a 150 year old loom. The craftswoman is friendly and takes the time to explain the finer details of the process.

I sincerely recommend jarapa workshops! Very nice atmosphere, great learning and a great idea to get to know some local culture in a creative way. Even though I didn't speak Spanish, I felt comfortable (hey! there is google translator and helpful people around!). I definitely plan to come back here for another lesson in the future. Thank you again!

Ana keeps alive the Alpujarran artesan craft of weaving a variety of mats, curtains etc in her wonderful shop/workshop. You can browse her shop, watch her at work with her loom - she's super friendly so don't be shy about asking advice about your purchase! She can even arrange shipping.
If you're visiting Bubion you must pop into Ana's shop!

It was most interesting and a different activiity to do to visit a traditional weaver´s workshop. The owner/weaver, Anna, was very enthusiastic about demonstrating how she makes her multi-coloured rugs.

It was a pleasure to meet you Ana and learn how Jarapas are made. I was so pleased to be able to make my own small rug on your wonderful loom - a real privilege.
