An absolutely beautiful hotel with albergue! They also had dinner for pilgrims for 18euros . It would have been nice to have an indoor space to hang the laundry!

I'm on the Camino, I had only the one choice in Villafranca Montes de Oca, so as a vegan, I was thrilled to get some vegan food

Rating for the pilgrim hostel:
Great hostel embedded in a beautiful hotel complex which is surrounded by a beautiful garden.
The staff is the greatest treasure of the house.. You will be treated excellently and everyone is very friendly. Nice spacious rustic bar with delicious reasonably priced wine & food. I felt good all around.

The cute guard dog (dachshund) 😉 is also very special.

Very nice stop on the Camino via bike. More expensive. But very comfortable. Historic building. Clean and comfortable. Large enough to meet other peregrinos but options for private rooms if preferred. Staff is top notch, very attentive and care about your comfort.

Had a great stay and an abundant breakfast. For tired pilgrims, this is what it takes.

Great stay! Our room was gigantic and very comfortable. The staff was incredibly attentive, particularly this gentleman who arrived a couple months ago from the Philippines (I didn’t have the chance to learn his name). Breakfast was delicious, dinner not so much but that’s ok for the price you pay and the convenience.

Didn't stay here. Review is for the cafeteria

Food was tasty and amazing. Visited the year before and returned here because I absolutely remembered how I enjoyed the food and service.

Service was in English so that was easy and friendly

Not to be missed when walking the Camino. Good food, coffee, and cold beer.

Had tuna salad, tuna sandwich and Napolitano

Excellent overnight stay on a motorcycle trip. Friendly and helpful receptionist, suggested parking the bike in the secure foyer. Good room and bathroom. Simple but excellent dinner. All great value. Highly recommended.

Great service, clean, the staff is amazing, they prepared a Breakfast bag , take away, since I wanted to leave early. If you have the possibility of spending a night here on your Camino, you”ll get a great start of the 11 km Walk to SAN Juan de Ortega. Book a massage at the Pension across the supermarket(mini foodstore)!

I really enjoyed my stay. The staff were wonderful, food and drink were great, and the resident dogs Chica and Hutch were adorable. They offered a free yoga/meditation class which gave a good stretch/relaxation while doing camino.

This hotel is in Villafranca montes de Oca, which is the calming country side of northern Spain, near Burgos(Big city, famous for gothic cathedral and churros.) and Bodegas Irache(Local winery which produces great wine. I recommend you to try some.). Great thing about hotel being near winery is, not only about tasting fresh wine but also your eyes finally able to rest by the sight of orderly vines and meadows on the way to the town. Sitting on a chair in the backyard of hotel while fresh breeze blows your face really gives a peace in your mind. If you are with a glass of wine, what could possibly be better?

I stayed this hotel while I was in my pilgrimage. Of course being a pilgrim is a wonderful experience, but at the same time it can be quite exhausting to walk over 25km everyday. So that day also I felt pretty tired, I didn’t wanted to walk no more. That was the time when I saw this hotel, hotel San Antón Abad.

First impression of the hotel was, to be honest, I was worried if it’s too expensive for a pilgrim(For those who is new to camino de Santiago, pilgrim usually uses accommodation named albergue which costs about 5 to 15 euros.) because obviously the hotel looks so nice, and it probably is one of the best accommodation between all the albergues that I saw during pilgrimage. But you know, I always can just ask about the price and back off if it’s too much, so I entered.

After passing by the beautifully decorated hall, I met this kind concierge. She asked if my day was okay, or did I had any kind of hardship since the sun shine was very hot. For me, that sympathetic welcoming was very touching especially when I felt really tired and exhausting. It must be hard to show sympathy about the hardness of pilgrimage if you meet pilgrims in daily basis. Even though it was 10,000km far from my home, it almost felt like I was with my family. And yes, the price was affordable.

The room was clean and bed wasn’t squeaky. Another thing that I liked about hotel San Antón Abad was, that the room was bright. At least pilgrim-using side of hotel was.(You are not supposed to use pilgrim-using side even if you are pilgrim. But it will cost you extra money though.) I also loved the view of the hotel itself after dawn. It is one cozy hotel.

I only had wine in spite of the detailed announcement about pilgrim’s menu. And that wine night I had with other pilgrims is one of the unforgettable moment between all my 30 nights of pilgrimage. I loved the wine. That wine was only about 20 euros but felt like it was the finest red wine I’ve ever had.

Because I seriously loved that wine, I have been searching for it about 8 months. But sadly I couldn’t find the similar wine however I tried. So despite of inconvenience I will cause, I mailed hotel to ask about that wine few days ago. I never expected any reply, it was just for my relief. Of course I never ought to expect a reply, would you answer the question about wine that customer had almost a year ago if you runs a hotel? And the day before yesterday, I got a reply. They told three wines according to my description. Now I am about to taste those wines.

I don’t know if anyone get through my long, tedious review. I wish I had better writing ability to express all my thankfulness and to illustrate the beautiful and cozy hotel to everyone but I don’t, so I had to at least write all the details. If anyone’s looking for a hotel near Burgos when you have car, if anyone’s in their pilgrimage, or you are looking for some fancy but calming night, I highly recommend this hotel. You won’t regret. I know I also will be there again some day.

What a beautiful place. It’s built in 1875.. very impressive. Friendly people Pedro, Alfonso. I feel very lucky to stay here. If you are a peregrinon, big area for drying your clothes as well

Excellent pilgrim accommodations in a restored medieval pilgrim's hospital turned hotel. Great outside patio and small bar. Best place to stay on the Camino de Santiago in Villafranca Montes de Oca.

Loved the pricier dorm room, it has dividers between the beds. The dinner was great. Breakfast was in the bar and felt hectic, but was good.

Lovely hotel on the Camino. I had intended to stay in the albergue side, but decided to splurge on a hotel room. It was a great place to take a much needed break while walking the Camino.
