We loved our stay at Hotel Akeretta. We arrived a had a few celebration beers after our days hike from Roncesvalles on the patio…..beautiful setting. The historic hotel is very clean and has been our best stay in Spain so far. The evening meal was so delicious too!!! Everything was absolutely perfect. Also the proprietor was very friendly and extremely helpful (I ended up leaving a key item for going light on the Camino behind and he was instrumental in getting it back to me…..went above and beyond. We will highly recommend Hotel Akeretta to others.

Loved our one-night stay in this charming hotel and only wished we could have stayed longer!! The host is incredibly nice and welcoming and provides an excellent service. Food for diner and breakfast was delicious (homemade croissants so good!! And I’m French…). The interior is clean and lovely. Hotel located in a calm hamlet with beautiful views. Thank you!!

Quaint hotel with a good dinner. Breakfast was a little light with bread / croissant and juice but still good.

DELIGHTFUL!!!! Traditional Basque home which has been lovingly restored (with charm & great attention to detail). Private rooms w bathrooms were immaculately clean. The owner, Joseph, was the most genuinely enthusiastic hosts we have encountered thus far & is very knowledgeable about the region. The dinner menu included simple, hearty, DELICIOUS locally-sourced classic Basque dishes from the area (along with equally delicious local wine!) And the views of the countryside are ridiculously beautiful. Charming, quiet...lovely!!!!

A truly wonderful hotel in a quiet location. Evening dinner with fresh produce was a highlight. Rooms spacious and clean. Service prompt and friendly. Plenty of quiet alcoves and reading rooms and terraces to sit. Great boutique hotel

Stayed here whilst walking the Camino.
Great host, cosy rooms and a good vibe in a 300 year old building.

This was a wonderful place to stay. Our host was a gracious and worked very hard to make our group comfortable. We had a group of 18 people. He served us dinner and drinks and was very efficient. I’d love to stay here again.

One of the best hotels on the Camino de Santiago, which was featured in the film The Way (as an albergue). Run by a married couple, who speak English, this stunning building has many original Basque features, and the food is incredible. Highly, highly, highly recommend it!

Highly recommend this beautiful historic hotel. Our spacious room was perfect. Comfortable bed, great shower and a bathtub. Delicious dinner and a good breakfast. The host was charming. We walked an extra 5km to reach this hotel because my husband had enjoyed it so much 3 years ago. It was worth it!

Josef our host was welcoming and his hospitality was genuine. The hotel is very nice and extremely comfortable. We stayed there after hiking 18 miles on the Camino. We had an excellent dinner that was very reasonably priced. Breakfast the next day was very good. We are still talking about the fresh squeezed orange juice. This has been one of our favorite hotels on the Camino.

Amazing! Definitely go out of your way to stay here. The guy running the place was so so nice and the rooms were lovey. We had an absolutely amazing dinner there. I would love to come back and spend more time here. They have a historic basque kitchen built into the house that was really interesting to see and some amazing views to wake up to. Thanks so much for a great stay and the wonderful hospitality.

This is a real gem on the Camino de Santiago! The owner is a generous man who took the time to tell us about the area, the history of the property and he featured local products in the restaurant on site (The olives and olive oil are local and the best I've ever had). The dinner that evening was incredibly delicious and just what we needed after a long hike. His prices were fair, the room was very clean and comfortable, and the mountain view from our window was a delight. We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Akerreta and highly recommend it. It's definitely worth the extra 6.6km past Zubiri to stay here! Thanks for a wonderful stay!

More than I expected, if I'm ever back in the area I would go out of my way to stay there. Great hotel, amazing host, made us feel so welcomed.
Almost forgot the great meals.

I’ve been walking the Camino and so far this just might be my favorite place I’ve stayed. The host was amazing and very hospitable and everyone there works so hard to make everything beautiful.
It was clean, comfortable. And the food! So delicious. For dinner at my stay we had a fresh salad and the most buttery, fall apart in your mouth, beef and vegetable roast. Everyone I was with ate every last bit of it. And for dessert I opted for melon, a giant piece of a local type of honey dew that filled, hydrated, and satisfied me. When I woke up, I could smell the croissants baking and the fresh orange juice. Probably the best breakfast I’ve had on the Camino too haha!
This may be biased because the people I met there also made this stay that much better. Regardless, I highly, highly recommend this place.
