This is the type of experience that makes your vacation an everlasting memory.

Chef Francisco Lillo, a humble man with a passion for simple, yet delicious uncomplicated food that will transport you through a fantastic discovery of the local Granada flavors and his very own creations.

There is no set menu, nor is a restaurant, he is a living encyclopedia of information of what food should be.

So far, the best food experience that I've had on my Europe trip. This "restaurant" (not a real restaurant) is up a notch comparing all those fancy Michelin/World's Best blah blah blah (I have been to Tickets/La Chateaubriand on my trip - they're good too).

It's a personal chef 15-course tasting menu, with a choose-your-own-price twist (you pay for what you think is fair). There's only 1 dinner served for the entire evening. The setting is intimate, only 8 people in our evening. We feel like we are just eating dinner at a friend house. Francisco is amazing and charming, explaining all the sources of the ingredients and the originality of each dish.

Fresh, simple, rustic dishes with most ingredients coming from locals just around Granada. The concept of simple home-made good food with fewer ingredients (most dishes have <= 5 ingredients).

Would totally recommend if you come to this part of Spain.

This is an experience like no other. Where else can you go and get a family style multi course meal reflecting home cooking? The place is no frills, it's an old shop with a few tables added, and you're not going here for Michelin star looking Instagram ready dishes. You're going here for simple cooking, delicious food that you wouldn't eat anywhere else, and a fantastic host in Francisco who tells the history of each dish before serving it and custom tailoring the menu based on your preferences. La Oliva was one of the top highlights of my trip and it was a very unique dining experience. Forget crowded tapas bars, or touristy restaurants with the same dishes, come here for the food and leave with a great experience and fantastic stories.

We experienced a unique dinner at Francisco’s place. He was very welcoming and it felt like we are at a friend’s home. We tried very good typical spanish food and Francisco explained us where ingredients came from. Francisco truly cares about his guests. We also enjoyed getting to know the other guests. Food and wine were of the highest quality and there is no other place where you get a similar experience. Thank you Francisco, see you next time.

Francisco’s tasting event was the highlight of our trip to Granada. He is part philosopher, part historian, and 100% great host and chef. He serves local food prepared with such respect and care, using simple ingredients with spectacular results. He began by introducing 3 different kinds of olive oils, each with a distinct flavor. The gazpacho was simple and refreshing. Every chapter of the evening was a gift. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience an event like this and spend the evening with an interesting and good person. Our group walked out into the warm Granada evening, exuberant with memories of great food and an new appreciation of the cuisine and history of this wonderful city.

If you are looking for a 360 degrees culinary experience look no further! This is not the typical restaurant nor a tapas bar, Francisco took us thorough a gastronomic tour of the Andalusian recipes explaining dish after dish the origins of each product. He has such a passion for what he does that makes the experience one of a kind! Thank you again Francisco it was a pleasure to meet you!

Just so much fun! Last year, my wife and I and three other friends had dinner at La Oliva in Granada. While this isnt a "real restaurant", it was one of the most interesting dining experiences we've ever had. Francisco is a wonderfully friendly sweet man who delights in surprising and educating his guests about olives, olive oil, wines, and delicious, simply prepared foods. Dinner was 3 1/2 hours of interesting and varied taste delights coupled with 5 different Spanish wines. We left full, satisfied, energized (and a bit tipsy!)

Our meal was course after course of tastings ... a couple of bites of this followed by a couple of bites of that. Always something new and interesting. Each one was prepared by hand by Francisco on nothing more than a 2 burner hotplate, but each course was just delicious. The biggest surprise was a "traditional winter salad": sliced oranges topped with green onion, radishes, salted cod, pepper, and of course, olive oil. Not a combination I would have ever thought about, but it was wonderful!

Dont go there is you expect a regular restaurant experience: waiters, maitre d's, and wine lists. . You'll be disappointed. But if you want an interesting delicious food experience, make it a point to visit Francisco at La Oliva.

Just try it!
Its like having a 15-17 dish tasting menu in your living room with your friends. Maximum 13 guests so book in advance! We got lucky and charmed us a seat for two even though it was full, thanks Francisco and his staff for the evening!
