Santu’s Café & Petiscos

First we met Pedro Almeida, a lovely smiley young man who greeted us with a very friendly presence.
The landscape in the background portrays feelings of relaxation and kindness and is only magnified by Pedros attention to detail.
We ordered everything from the tapas menu.
We loved everything.
The highlights; moelas, favas and the espetada de lulas.
I was shocked to find such great culinary skill amidst the picturesque mountains.
The cook/owner creates a fantastic mix of Spanish tapas and Portuguese interior cuisine.
Completely flabbergasted by this surprising experience.

Very nice stuff, very good food. The time of waiting is a bit long, but seems very typical for Portugal.

We took some tapas, steak, wine and desert. Everything was very delicious. And waiter was very helpful in recommendations.

We ordered some tapas recommended by the waiter (chorizo al orujo, habas con chorizo and ensalada) and all were delicious. Olives and french fries were also amazing.

10/10 dining experience. Amazing views, fantastic service from a very hospitable and friendly waiter, alongside one of the best meals I've ever had. Simple yet perfectly executed, resulting in some of the best renditions of my favourite dishes. The squid was the best I've had - perfectly grilled. The prawns were massive, delicious also. Everything was seasoned to perfection. The cake (bolo de bolacha) and creme brulé were 💯. The food is insanely cheap for how good it was. You'd pay triple for this quality back in the UK. Excluding drinks, we got 20 dishes total, yet paid under 70 euros. Will be coming here again when I inevitably visit this beautiful part of the world again 🙏🏽

Fantastic restaurant with amazing portugese dishes and local wines.The staff was so helpfull and lovely, they where proud of these local signature dishes that have been cooked the same way for centuries. A must have regional culinary experience for a very modest price. Thank you so much for teaching us about your food heritage, it was an unforgettable experience! ❤

Great little cafe with inviting atmosphere. As a party of 4, We had several tapas to share - pork skewer, choriço with brandy sauce, fries, salad, calamari skewer, chocolate mousse and flan. Everything was fresh and delicious!

Wonderful atmosphere, great waiter and delicious food. All in all - perfect!

Now this was a 10/10 lunch stop. As the only spot in this tiny village you might not expect much, but the petiscos at this small cafe were all fantastic. Our waiter was super sweet and full of pride too. Sitting on the huge deck under vines with views is just a bonus

Great food! Simple, tasty, relaxed. Amazing big balcony with a wonderful view. So glad we stopped here for a light lunch on our way through.

This is a hidden gem! We stumbled across this restaurant/bistro accidentally, and it was the best one we experienced in Portugal. The staff were very friendly, helped us with food and beverage choices, and they spoke great English! We had an amazing view of the valley and truly lived the local experience. The food and wine was just divine and what was the most important for us, it was local. Definitely worth several visits!

Lovely staff, super respective and considerate, the food was amazing, especially the homemade chocolate mousse, but the sausage as well. Beautiful view over the mountains and villages. Great atmosphere inside as well in the dining area.

Pedro Almeida was the best waiter I’ve ever met… a breath of fresh air. He was so attentive to our needs and made us feel really comfortable in every possible way. He recommended us the perfect dishes and made us feel really at home. The food was really delicious and extremely affordable with very generous portions. I highly recommend this place.

If I could give 6 stars I would! This place was a recommendation from Luis (the guy we rented kayaks from) and it was such a treat!
Amazing food, amazing service! The guy that served us (Bernardo) was super nice.
We had fava beans, gizzard, padron pepper, chorizo and the best chocolate mousse!!!
