This was my first step into the Camino Frances and 3 weeks in have not found any where comparable! Our host Flor and the owner Joseph were amazing! They wanted all of us to feel at home and start the Camino in a positive way. The dinner was delicious and the breakfast the best so far! The location is perfect, across from the Pilgrims office. I highly recommend.

Nice and quaint hostel. We were only 3 in our room. Dinner and breakfast was good, but all the food was vegetarian.

Just the best place to start your Camino. Hosts Joseph and Flor are so kind and welcoming, and all the guests get to know each other with a big communal meal. The rooms are comfortable and clean. I could not have asked for a better experience to kick off my journey. I hope to be back some day!

This past August my brother and I stayed at Beilari on the eve of our Camino Frances. Staying there was one of the highlights of our Camino. As first time pilgrims we wanted to have a true communal experience to begin our pilgrimage. It was better than we had hoped for. Joseph and his team are the best! We were shown amazing hospitality and the homemade meals were outstanding. We even started friendships with a couple of the other guests. Our first Camino family!

Rooms were simple and perfect. The shared bathrooms were spotless and there was never a wait. A covered outdoor courtyard had a laid back vibe for socializing and getting to know the other guests. It's also where dinner is served at a single large table. In the morning this is the staging area, connected by a door to the main street, where everyone begins or continues with their journey. Some pilgrims were walking North to South and St-Jean-Pied-de-Port was partway through their journey. The road begins right outside the door and the Pilgrim's Office is across the street.

Beliari was the perfect place to begin our Camino and we will cherish the memories forever. The experience was magical for us and I can't imagine a better start to a Camino.

Many thanks to Joseph and his team!
With Love, Dawn

I highly recommend this hostel! It has room for 18 Camino pilgrims and is very conveniently located on the Camino in the centre of the old town. The Pilgrim's office is also right across the street in case you need an official credential.

The owner has created a lovely hostel and sets the right tone and atmosphere for your upcoming and long Camino. The evening meal is both fun and interesting, as we all introduced ourselves, so you got to know some other pilgrims.

Then, the next morning, you take your first step of your pilgrimage. Buen Camino!

Gite Beilari was the perfect place for us to stay before the start of our Camino. Excellently run by Joseph, great location, clean, peaceful, with a delicious evening meal and breakfast. We got to meet our fellow pilgrims over the shared evening meal and had a great night's sleep in the comfortable room.

Here ends my Camino through France, and what a great last Gite! The owner and operator, Joseph, personally receives his guests. His team makes it a very memorable and comfortable stay.
In the evening everyone dined together, sharing their experiences and or further plans. Language is never a barrier, but a delightful addition of to the evening.
Here, everything is perfect.

I cannot recommend the Beilari enough. This is a very special place to start your Camino journey. This was my second time to stay and the experience was even more beautiful and spiritual than the first. The welcome meal that Joseph and his team provided was delicious. Joseph has such a lovely, kind, peaceful way about him ..Conversations over dinner were a great way to get to know the group (Many of whom we continued to meet on The Way) Our stay here made us contemplate our very own private Camino Journeys..Words cannot describe how special this place is...

Our 2nd Camino started with a wonderful stay at Beilari. It is located right across from the Pilgrim Office in the old town. The food was excellent, the beds comfortable but most importantly, Joseph made us all feel like family. Without fail, whenever we encountered a member of our Beilari family later along the way, we spoke with with great fondness of our time there. I highly recommend Beilari as the perfect starting point for one's Camino

Thank you for making the start of my Camino so special! From the food at the communal dinner, Joseph's warm welcome, and the comfort of the accommodation, it was all wonderful. I made connections here that lasted throughout my journey. I highly recommend Beilari.

Joseph and Rose Marie are super welcoming and wonderful hosts. A great way to start your Camino within the walls of SJPDP! The vegetarian food was delicious and beautifully prepared. Through the thoughtful meals, my daughter and I had an opportunity to get to meet several pilgrims that we reconnected en route in our journey. Thank you again to Joseph and Rose Marie for a wonderful send off!

August 31st I stayed at Beilari. Joseph is the perfect person to start the Camino experience with. He set the tone for the Camino. Friendship, community, sharing and opening up to others. The place is clean, comfortable, and cozy. Joseph and Rosemarie are wonderful Camino stewards. They provided a delicious meal with wine for everyone. He made us a sandwich to take with us in the morning and if you wanted, he made reservations for us at Roncesvalles. I can't say enough good things about my stay at Beilari. I will say that I will be staying at Beilari my next Camino. Thank you Joseph and Rosemarie.

Highly recommended. We arrived late due to a train strike and Joseph and the team welcomed us right in the middle of dinner. The location is super convenient and we received great advice on how to book ‘hostels’ along the way and many other questions were answered too. Can’t recommend the Beilari high enough.

This was our favourite stay on our Camino Journey. It was our first and best night. The experience can be a little overwhelming but just trust the Camino process. Jospeh is an amazing host whose spirituality set the scene perfectly. The vegetarian food was great and it was wonderful to continue to meet our fellow Pilgrims on the road that Joseph had introduced us to at his welcome dinner. I look forward to returning with more friends.

Look no further as Gite Beilari is simply the best place to stay and launch your personal Camino de Santiago from.
It was one of the most memorable evening meals of my life with wonderful people....this is the one!!!!!
I was still with many from Gite Beilari when I got to Santiago and then beyond to Finisterre and Muxia weeks later.
I have stayed at many places around the world and this is simply the best. If it hadn't been for Beilari I even wonder if I would have managed to complete the Camino when the pressure was really on.
Thank you to all at Gite Beilari.
Please do not change the way you do things in any way.....it's just perfect.

Beilari in St. Jean was the perfect start to my first camino. Joseph's hospitality and mantra was a beautiful way to get into the camino spirit and mentality. He hosts a dinner the night before you begin your walk where you sit with your fellow pilgrims and talk, eat and find your first camino friends. I kept seeing the people from the first night throughout my entire walk through Spain which was extremely special. This is an *absolute must* stay for anyone coming through SJP, especially for first time pilgrims. It stands out in my mind as one of the most memorable experiences I had during my solo adventure.

I've had the pleasure of staying at this place on two occasions, and I am looking forward my next visit. The ambiance is fantastic, and the staff there are wonderful. The communal dining experience is an absolute delight.

First night on the road to Santiago. Joseph and Rosemary welcomed me warmly. They and I shared the same things that mattered to them. Nice meal and met nice people. I was sorry for my foreign language skills, but meeting them was impressive. I forgot to take a picture with Joseph and Rosemary. I am grateful for what they gave me.

This is the place one MUSt stay when beginning the Camino. The friendships I made over my two nights in Beilari made all the difference for me. Even now I'm corresponding with a pilgrim I met. Joseph has exactly the right ingredients to build community in the very short time we shared together. He is gracious, welcoming, AND lots of fun! Thank you, Joseph and your beautiful wife.

We (two teachers and eight 16-years old) are walking in a kind of relay race to Santiago. Every year we walk 6 days, the new group starts where the previous ended. In 5 years we completed the route from Le Puy-en-Velay to St. Jean and we will continue this year with the Camino Frances. During our last trip we stayed at Beilari.
About 5 months later the students still talk about our stay with Joseph. It was an experience that will stay with them the rest of their lives. The hospitality, the discussions with the other pelgrims during dinner, the lovely food.... Two of the studens are planning to continue the Camino and know where they want to start: At Beliari!
