Castelo de Santa Cruz

Nice walk over a bridge to the old castle built in 13th century. Some art on display inside if you come during normal hours. But you can walk around the castle grounds in extended hours. Great place to view sunsets.

People are free to walk over the bridge to this castle which was built by the Spaniards to protect a small harbour near Vigo, So as in. Very picturesque. Exploring the little island and castle exterior takes less than 30 minutes.

Beautiful! It also has a very curious small museum with a very nice man that explained everything.

The Castle of Santa Cruz is one of the symbols of the Concello de Oleiros. It is located on an islet in the #ACoruña estuary, which is accessed by a wooden pedestrian walkway. It was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest due to its high historical interest, which together with its natural and scenic beauty, make this place an extraordinary place full of magic and history. The island has a coastal promenade around it from which you can enjoy magnificent and unbeatable views of the Herculean city, as well as Santa Cruz and its small port, which although today the number of sailors is very small , was one of the most important in Oleiros between the 16th and 18th centuries. In the surroundings of Santa Cruz there are also other points of interest that are worth visiting such as the Natural Monument "Costa de Dexo-Serantes", the beach of Santa Cristina or the small Porto de Lorbé.

Such a wonderful experience. Extremely well preserved with great signs explaining the origins of the local vegetation… worth a visit!

If you happen to be in the area this place is so awesome. The town is ocean facing and lots of bars and restaurants. Then of course you have the castle. Old force tower now turned into a public exhibit / recreational area. Go check it out!

Awesome small island surrounded with seawater and a small castle in the middle of island...best to GO in the morning because they closes early around 2pm...

Charming setting with lovely views of La Coruña.

Visited quite a few times and it's always marvellous.

To be fair I didn't go inside and only went for a walk around it. It's a really amazing place with spectacular views of Santa Cruz and A Coruña.
