What a lovely sight and experience. It is so beautiful and amazing how the franch can build houses in the forest, on the hill, at the side of the hill that looks like it going to fall etc, make sure you have the right walking shoes and be ready to go for a long walk if you want to see the waterfall. You will definitely burn calories

Amazing place. Each time when I’m in Pyrenees I’m going to this place. Pyrenees for me are thus place. If you haven’t visited Gavarnie you can say you were in Pyrenees. Cul de Tourmalet or Cap du Midi don’t count - if you’re fully capable of doing 4km and 400m up.

Nice hike! It takes 3-4 hours to round the trip. Very hot and less water in the stream during summer (August). Bus 965 is available from Lourdes to Gavarnie!

Absolutely stunning. It can get crowded so the parking lot tends to be full pretty quickly. Also, it’s paid, €8. Apart from the potential crowds, it’s a must do location.

We recently stayed in Lourdes and decided to make a day trip into the Pyrenees National Park, starting our day with a stop at mountain village of Gavarnie to take the 3 hour point-to-point hike into the natural amphitheatre area known as Cirque de Gavarnie.

This is a remarkable area to visit and see. The trail is just over 4km and takes around 90 minutes to reach the iconic Hôtel du Cirque et de la Cascade, where the amphitheatre opens up and provides remarkable views. The trail continues onward all the way to the waterfalls.

We didn't have time to hike this far and had to turn back after spending some time at the Hôtel du Cirque et de la Cascade viewpoint. Returning back to the village, there are more impressive views throughout the beautiful valley in between.

An awe inspiring marvel of nature. The walk from the car park to the cirque is about 45 minutes. Good choice of places to eat & drink at the start of the walk. Avoid the crowds in summer by going early morning or late afternoon. Generally less busy ( and more beautiful) in Autumn.

Strongly recommend to give a visit.
But the last 100m can be challenging because rock on the slope keeps sliding when you step on it.

Spectacular place, breathtaking, and quite easy to reach from Gavarnie Gedre.
If you want to go up to the Serradets Refuge, keep in mind that the route is quite difficult- better without a big backpack. But, if down is beautiful, up its marvellous :)

Excellent views, great easy climb and exquisite food at the bottom of the track. But a beer with views to the waterfall is a must

An absolutely amazing place to visit.
When you make the last turn in the small village of Gavarnie and are presented with the view of the Cirque, it simply overwhelms you.
The hike to the waterfall is worth taking, but trail shoes is a good idea 😁
The village has limited accommodations, so be sure to book in advance

Fabulous natural treasure. There's crowds during the day so if you want to avoid people or have photos without tourists I recommend walking the cirque early morning or late in the afternoon. The walk takes roughly three hours. The waterfalls and snow piles look impressive and on a clear day the size of the mountain walls behind the Hotel de Cirque make you feel tiny and respectful.

Stunning, simple stunning!! A nice walk up to the hotel and then a bit of a scramble up to the waterfall which was magnificent. The walk to the waterfall is tricky but most reasonably fit people will make it to the hotel.

We did a 5.5 hours hike trail from Gavernie to Cirque de Gavarnie at the end of October. It was sunny, there were not much people and it was beautiful. All together around 13 km.
Definetely recommend!

Breathtaking natural beauty! You cannot miss this, it's really worthwhile. Takes ~1 hour to walk one-way from the car park. Wear sturdy shoes as the path has many small rocks along the way. When you reach, enjoy the view with a drink from Hotel de Cirque.

The beautiful Cirque at the foot of the mountain is the most famous attraction in the area. The about three hours walk from Gavarnie village is worth the amazing view that appears at the end of the road. The climb to the cascade can be a bit cold and wet, but the panaromic view of the vally below compescate for it. highly recomended.

Fantastic for a walk . About 8 miles/ 13km round trip from the village.

Like a postcard.
It's not a long walk - about 4.5km to each size, but you need to be ready for some hill climbing.

For little kids, which this way could be hard for them (and their parents), my advice is to use the donkey at the beginning. (about 30€ for 3 hours)

The whole nature is before you.
