Larga subida por una carrera recientemente reparada con pendiente muy suave y coincidente en muchos kilómetros con el Camino Primitivo de Santiago, se cruzan varios pueblos muy bonitos, al iniciar la subida hay una bonita vista hacia el valle alto del río Bárcena que queda a nuestra derecha. Con la nueva carretera hay una vista bastante espectacular desde el nuevo puente.
La subida por la otra vertiente, la de Pola de Allande, se inicia en la misma villa por una carretera perfecta y con poco tráfico una subida de cinco kilómetros escasos al 5, 9 % de pendiente media y con pendiente máxima del 8 %
