It seems like every design center, tile and home improvement store in the area only displayed porcelain tile. The choices were mostly uninspired, and designed to mimic marble and limestone. So… we thought, if all the tile is made to look like stone, why not just buy the real thing? In most cases , we found marble to cost the same - or less than porcelain. As our search continued, we struggled to get good information on the buying process. We sent emails to 16 marble fabricators and distributors during our search — but most did not respond. We did manage to meet with a few, including giant Levantina. They had lovely stone, but we felt they were steering us toward what they wanted to sell, and not what we wanted to buy. They did not seem set up to deal directly with consumers.

Fortunately, one of the respondents to our many emails was Fernando Carrasco at SinkMar. Fernando has a very service oriented approach, listened to our desires, and invited us to the factory to inspect his inventory. And… he speaks English, which made our job much easier. SinkMar is a major producer, and had a huge selection of every quality marble and many other types of natural stone. We had no problem finding the exact size and finish tiles we were looking for. The buying process was easy too… and, SinkMar stored the product for 2 months, for free, before we were ready to take delivery! The price was also easy to live with compared to porcelain. Fernando and SinkMar were the perfect combination for us, and we can strongly recommend them as a great choice for natural stone.
