For those who are interested in the second world war this is one of the smaller museums well worth a visit. For such a small museum it packs a lot in about the Colmar offensive and what it was like for the local population. It also highlights the deeds of the Hollywood star Audie Murphy, the most decorated American soldier in WW11. If you're in the area it's worth a visit as is the little town of Turkheim where the museum is located.

So moving!
Wonderful museum. Tiny, volunteer-run, but packed with amazing artifacts and photos. Artifacts are from all countries that left a presence during the war. The exhibits are easy to see, protected by glass and arranged in an interesting manner with like materials –for example, though there is an American wing and a French wing, there is an exhibit of journals from soldiers on each side, there’s an exhibit of personal hygiene items too. There are photos of the devastation to the local area so you can see the differences and the rebuilding process. Some exhibits also include mannequins in a scene which was very striking.

The museum itself is nested in the little town that is beautifully cared for. We were really moved by the artifacts and the stewardship of this tragic history. We made the visit to the museum through an excursion from our Viking Rhine cruise. We want to go back and explore this area and the museum more. So worth it.

What a wonderful all volunteer museum explaining the history of the Colmar Pocket in WW2. This little museum tucked away in a family neighborhood has lots of small exhibits both of the Germans and the Allies who fought for control of this area and decimated the town. If you are a history, or especially a WW2 buff this is a must see visit from your trip. In my case I visited on a shore excursion from a Viking river tour up the Rhine on a 1/2 day incredibly informative tour. The tour I took also took us to the location of Audie Murphy's last stand. I HIGHLY recommend this tour.

Outstanding. The amount of relics from both sides is truly amazing. I have not seen this much Nazi relics in one place in Europe before. Most definitely worth a stop if Colmar aPocket interests you, the village also looks like it came from a Disney movie set.

Visited this WW2 museum
They have a great collection of weapons from the German, French and US armies, among other items from the Colmar pocket battle. Very interesting and humbling.

Very informative, wonderful artifacts, well worth a stop off if you are interested in the second world war. Turcksheim is also a very picturesque village with beautiful old buildings and nooks and crannies to explore.

Very well-done Museum of the fighting to liberate the last portions of Alsace still held by the Nazi’s in 1945. The fighting was fierce and many Alsatian villages were destroyed. Multiple dioramas are staged with lifelike mannequins and the exhibits are almost literally bursting at the seems with equipment, helmets, and uniforms. A must-stop for anyone interested in the subject.

Great little museum in the heart of the village. A incredible collection of uniforms, weapons and components of warfare directly relevant to the conflict in Alsace with specific stories and information concerning the local area. Beautifully maintained and displayed, this was an excellent visit. Allow 1 to 2 hours for the full tour, audio guides in multiple languages are available and at a small cost of a suggested donation circa €5

Excellent small museum packed full of interesting exhibits and supported by a very good audio tour (make sure that you get that; it gives you a really good level of detail). Not easy to find in town but do track it down. Look out especially for the local villages in the photos to understand the level of destruction.
