There is lots to love about this quirky hotel including the stunning views and excellent food. Dog friendly in every sense of the word, although they could build on this with a doggie welcome pack, The service is excellent but the rooms do lack the trappings of a modern hotel. There is no air conditioning in the rooms, be forewarned that you will have to make do with a fan, and this is not the place for you if you are used to a big TV, numerous channels to flick through, reliable wi-fi and a plethora of little extras that you would expect at other luxury hotels. That being said, there is a warmth, peacefulness and rusticity about this beautiful hotel that I loved and a sundowner with the view of the ruins is hard to beat!

Our car club Astonishing Drivers chose the Chateau de Fère as our main stay for our Tour de Champagne. The service was excellent and extremely accommodating, the rooms were lovely and the our food was exquisite. We are happily coming back and can only say good things about the entire team.

My husband and I spent an enjoyable two nights in November at Château de Fère Hôtel & Spa. The hotel is lovely and beautifully decorated. The staff is exceptionally welcoming: friendly, thoughtful, and quick-to-respond. The front desk staff happily called around to find and book a champagne tasting for us, recommended restaurants, quickly resolved minor problems in our room. Service in the excellent dining room was also very attentive, but never aloof. We were greeted warmly on arrival and upgraded as Hyatt members, something not required by our status at this partner hotel, but much appreciated. The hotel was not full during this off period and the weather was chilly, so we didn't use the pool, nor did we try the spa. Instead, we enjoyed the crackling fires in the fireplaces and the cozy atmosphere of the hotel and dining room. The location is absolutely magical with the adjacent castle ruins. The only reason I give the location 4-stars is merely that it is isolated and a minimum 30-minute drive on unlit rural roads to other restaurants, sights, etc. This wouldn't be a drawback for some, but is worth noting. The drive to explore neighboring areas is worth it, though, and we had fun exploring on our little getaway from our Paris home: Château-Thierry, Pierrefonds, the new Cité International de la Langue Française are all easy and doable drives. [Tip: If you go in off-season when many area restaurants near Château de Fère are closed, we found the restaurant at Auberge de l'Abbaye in Longpont, a 30-min. drive, to be open, charmingly decorated and serving excellent traditional fare at reasonable prices.]

My wife and i stayed for the weekend for our anniversary.
Really nice restaurant and hotel.
The diner and breakfast were really good.
The view of the old castle is amazing at night, it’s the best to appreciate a flute de champagne.

The hotel and surroundings are very nice. The restaurant serves excellent food. The swimming pool and its area were clean and very calm. This hotel makes a perfect place for a short one-night trip from Paris to escape the city and the heat waves of the summer :)
Will definitely consider to come back next summer !

The Chateau and the surrounding grounds are spectacular! It is like looking at a postcard! The service and the restaurant are top-notch. The food quality and wine/champagne list are what you would expect from a Michelin restaurant. The hotel staff take the time to try to get to know each person and they are pet friendly! The few patrons who had young children seemed out of the place. This is a very old Chateau, which is WHY we chose it! So, if you expect 5-star luxurious new furniture then go to Paris. The rooms are clean and and comfy and I appreciated the creaks and squeaks associated with a stay in a several hundred year old Chateau! Can't wait to go back! Close to Chateau-Thierry, US cemeteries and a short drive into Reims!

My experience in this hotel has exceeded my expectations in so many ways, that I felt compelled to share my experience with anyone that is considering this hotel.

First off, I mistakenly booked the wrong room days, and I expected to have to pay additional fees. The manager still honored my reservation, and made my experience stress free. He didn’t have to do this, but he did and to me, it was a testament to the great hospitality of this establishment. The check in experience was 5/5

The hotel grounds are absolutely breathtaking. You are in the middle of historic ruins, juxtaposed next to the most beautiful gardens, similar to the ones you would see in Luxembourg. We spent hours strolling around the gardens. One word: absolutely perfect. 5/5

The staff is nice and attentive. I did not have any issues with service. Everything was great. 5/5

Food. I only ate breakfast, which was a bit expensive priced and above average in taste/quality, but my world of Hyatt membership covered the meal. 4/5

Rooms. The rooms are very beautiful and charming, with the understanding that you are living in a beautiful chateau built hundreds of years ago and should not expect things to be new and perfect. It is part of the charm of the room that everything feels like you’re transported back in time. Reading the reviews, I could see how some people may not like these rooms over something like Park Hyatt, but I actually liked this room better than new 5 star hotels I’ve stayed in France. 5/5

Great hotel! Rooms are very large, quiet, and comfortable. With nice bathroom, comfortable bed, in-room safe, and fridge. Grounds have a large ruin that is undergoing some restoration. Spa includes whirlpool, sauna, steam room, and pool.

Restaurant has excellent food with decent service. The evening we had dinner there the restaurant was about half full.

I booked a conference for 30 Australians at Chateau de Fére and could not wait to get back and write this glowing review. I believe this is the most special place I have come across in my travels

TOP FIVE:
1. The Location - Picture you see on the site don't even do the historic setting justice- it's simply stunning. Its about 1.5 hours out of Paris, but you will be transported when you arrive.
2. The Staff- These people care! Aside from the lovely details like having your bed turned down, they were ever present to make the stay fabulous. If you appreciate personal service, look no further
3. The Food- A michelin rated chef did not disappoint with creative elegant dishes, each paired expertly with wines from neighboring regions.
4. The Rooms- Having seen many rooms ( I was the organiser) it was just amazing to see how unique each was with thoughtful design and attention to detail.
5. Champagne Cellar- Do not miss this- the cellar is amazing and a wonderful way celebrate a champagne ending to an unforgettable stay.

If you are looking for something off the beaten path, truly one-of-a-kind and steeped in history please don't pass this one up!

Incredible experience, beautiful grounds, lovely rooms. A warm & helpful staff went well out of their way to accommodate our large group with an ongoing list of ever-changing details. Coordinating our group from the US, Europe, and the UK was a bit hectic from the States and the staff at the Chateau made things seamless, painless, and more than memorable for our group of 16. I highly recommend this romantic, historic, and serene spot. C'est magnifique!
