History in the making! That's literally speaking. Very interesting insight into rope making and the development of the art. Probably more appropriate for teenage-plus children and us oldies. Great audio transcripts and displays. Good examples of the rope arts, great shop and some very different prezzie memories. The building is something else.
The scale of it has to be seen.

The welcome film is surprisingly good. Then all the exhibition is interesting and well presented. One learns how cordage was made - from the harvest to the final touch. The curator who demonstrated one workshop was really entertaining.
From all the Rochefort s visits that day it was from far the best.

Visiting this old ship rope manufacturing factory is a delightful must for all tourists of all ages. Amazing history behind fabricating ship ropes. Be ready to spend several hours in the bookstore adjacent to museum with the best collection of quality books.

très beau lieu, riche au niveau culturel avec le musée de la corderie royale interactif et ludique. Nous avons aussi eu la chance de profiter d'une expo temporaire de Pierre Loti :). Enfin super balade le long du cours d'eau qui mène au centre de Rochefort
