It’s a really special experience to climb down the bunker, visiting the different rooms, see the super thick walls up close, glancing out through the small opening out over the sea and the steep cliffs the soldiers needed to climb… meanwhile they were under attack.
You could still see the bullet holes on the walls. Might not be pleasant if you’re claustrophobic or have trouble walking narrow stairs. You could still admire the view from the top.

Very interesting collection of bunkers and gigantic bomb craters. Some of the paths are currently closed due to "landslide danger", but the tremendous forces at play here are still evident when you see the huge craters and giant blocks of concrete which were tossed around like toys.
The Rangers took the positions holding dummy guns, found and destroyed the real hidden guns, then held on through a strong counterattack which pushed them back almost to the cliff edges. The Germans held the westernmost AA bunker until Allied reinforcements from the beach finally arrived on the 8th.

The history of this site is very sad. Well preserved location, very impressive to see the bomb craters all around

Quite large area of bomb craters and destroyed bunkers (casements). Can go in some of them. Can see why it was a primary objective of the D-day operation for the allies to disable the guns. Nice tracks to walk around and good information boards with interesting facts and stories.

Follow a marked path with descriptive plaques. There are several bunkers and the ranger memorial.

Well worth the visit. Free parking, free entry. Nice walk around the area, many destroyed emplacements, many bomb craters, a few intact emplacements, and awesome views of the area.
Highly recommended. The info signs do a great job describing the events that took place here, as well as remembering those who gave their lives.

Amazing place, stuck in time, standing on the cliffs gives you an idea of the challenge the rangers had ahead of them, craters all over the place a must see place if you are in normandy

It is one of the most moving WWII sites to see because many bomb craters are still visible, and a few German bunker remnants can be seen, one of which is still intact and you can go inside. The location near cliffs and the sea provides stunning views. Not overly commercialized. Simple visitor center. It's a bit hard to find, though GPS gets you close, and you will eventually see signs for it. A short 15-minute walk to the modern Ranger sculpture monument.

Great place to visit if you're into WWII history. Lots of old German fortifications, shell craters, informative plaques etc.

If you're an American, seeing Omaha, stop here. Best examples of the bunkers and bombs. If you don't have a guide, get the story before you go...

The history is really interesting, you can see the big effects of the bombs in the terrain and the bunkers. The sea views are amazing.

This tour was very quiet with my family. We took in all the history and views with some sorrow. Seeing the craters left from the past really allows perspective for the entire tour. I recommend walking as much as you can and seeing all the bunkers possible. We ended the walk with a short stop in the free museum near the bathrooms. Inside was a short film showing some survivor interviews from soldiers on the ground many years ago.

Highly recommended

The story of what happened in this place was inspiring. Seeing the craters in the ground from the bombardment and the divots in the walls from the bullets is a reminder that it wasn’t just a story- it happened in real life. More holy ground….

Came here with my family on a tour of the coast. Really amazing to see something in person that you’ve only read about in history books. It’s hard to imagine what it must’ve been like for those on both sides with all hell raining down. As a graduate of Texas A&M who learned of “Rudder’s Rangers” while in school there, it was especially interesting to see the actually site where James Earl Rudder made history. Highly recommended.

Several parking spots for many visitors, easy paths to walk to the site. Amazing seeing all the holes where Bombs were dropped. Very humbled to stand there knowing what the French people endured during the German occupation and the perseverance of the allied troops to take the location.

A fascinating pointe to visit, to see the remains of the battery. That helps to picture what it looked like at the time. Quite sombering to read what the lads went through.

Pointe Du Hoc was the last stop on are self guided trip of all the normandy beaches and museums. We didn't get here til after the main centre had closed, regardless you can still walk down and look at all the fun batteries and the look out. It was amazing as there was not another person in sight, very serene and amazing scenery from the lookout out to the Atlantic. During opening times you can walk around the main lookout bunker but it was closed to us, we didn't mind because everything else was fantastic. If you're interested in ww2 history this is a must.

WOW. It is hard to believe a place with so much history can be so peaceful and quiet with the sound of crickets in the background. I can only thank those who fought for our freedom. This place brings up so many emotions and is definitely worth a visit! It is well maintained, a nice walk amidst the bunkers, bomb craters at the cliffs. I do suggest coming here early.
