Moulin de Latreille

For clarity, I did not stay or eat here. But i did spend a good deal of time walking around with the lovely super friendly owners. The setting is nothing short of jaw-dropping beauty. It's nestled in a valley with stunning cliffs surrounding it and a delightful river winding through the land. To be honest, I've never seen anything like it! It's all based on an ancient watermill which adds to the magic. If you want somewhere stunning and remote, do it! If you want somewhere near shops and nightlife stay away 🤣.

A little week at this delightful water mill was just enough time to realise how wonderful is this place and its surroundings. My wife and I, with our 9-month baby and a friend of ours, stayed at the Moulin de Latreille in the midst of July, the warmest month this year in France, and weather was so pleasant just every day and night. We hugely enjoyed close contact with unique biodiversity around the river and remoteness of this place (be aware that you definitely need a car to get there and the last Km or so is unpaved road). The hosts, Fiona and Gil are key to make this place so charming. They took great care of us and treated us with delicious breakfasts (think home made jam and fresh pastry bought every morning at the nearby village's bakery) as well as dispensing advice about activities in the surroundings and walking trails. We also liked the interiors and furnitures that have so much character, even in the simplicity of materials such as stone, wood and fabrics used. The cherry on the cake was that renewable energy is generated at Latreille from small hydro, PV and a solar thermal collector for hot water - with a few additional solar modules & storage capacity, I guess on-site generation could cover self-consumption even in the warm season.
All in all, really a great experience - we hope to come back to this place!

We spent 4 wonderful nights this September 2024 and can not stop rethinking our moments there. The location provided a peaceful and relaxing stay. Cales is very quaint small city a short distance for daily adventures by car. Our primary focal point was Rocamadour only 20 min drive. Fiona and Giles provided wonderful company during our stays breakfast mornings.

Un endroit magique, avec des hôtes formidables... Un havre de paix. Le lieu parfait pour faire une vraie pause, sans horloge, avec pour seuls bruits, ceux de la nature, de l'eau du moulin... Je vous souhaite de vivre cette belle expérience aussi.

Un ancien moulin redécoré avec beaucoup de gout et de fantaisie par les proprietaires Fiona et Giles. En extérieur, vues et perspectives inoubliables sur le canyon de l'Ouysse, petite riviere où les courageux plongeront (experience vivifiante) et les aventuriers navigueront sur les canoes de la maison. Pour ne rien gacher : terrain et boules de petanque, table de ping pong, babyfoot (rustique), equipement de fitness (simple mais efficace), cannes a peches...

Si vous cherchez le paradis, vous êtes au bon endroit !
Cette maison d'hôte est un havre de paix, dans un écrin de verdure, d'eau et de nature comme il est encore rare d'en trouver !!
L'accueil y est parfait. Vous vous sentirez comme en famille. Les hôtes sont vraiment discrets et prennent soin de vous. Le site est merveilleux de calme et un cocon pour se reposer, se réparer et recharger ses batteries.
C'est bien plus qu'une maison d'hôte ou un gite !

Merci à Fiona et à Jill pour leur accueil dans ce lieu hors du commun. Le site est magnifique : moulin au bord de l'Ouysse, isolé. Tout est parfait : la chambre, le petit déjeuner avec des produits frais.

Sehr romantisch, direkt am Fluss. Leider wird kein Abendessen angeboten.

UN LIEU MAGNIFIQUE.... Fiona, Jill, Shadow et le chat vous accueillent dans leur maison avec tellement de tendresse que l'on ne peut que bien s'y sentir.... Sous la tonnelle d'une grande terrasse, à l'abris des arbres on entend que les bruits de la nature... ce n'est que bonheur et douceur... hamacs, canoë, balades etc...
Si vous voulez vous ressourcer, n'hésitez pas.... Nous en tous les cas nous y retournerons !!!
