Vitré Castle

We walked around the perimeter of Vitré Castle. It's very big and impressive. Hard to miss, if you're in Vitré. Lovely town!

For €6 entry and free for kids, you can't go wrong! Partly closed due to renovations, you can still access 75% of the castle. Well maintained and with very good period furniture and paintings, you'll really get a good sense of how the residents lived during medieval times.

This place is super cool. We took a tour and learned all sorts of interesting information. Loved the layers of history. Loved the views... would have liked to see more areas but we understand some are not yet restored and might be unsafe. I would be willing to take the risk, but I know they can't risk it.

Lovely attraction to visit! The displays in the castle are beautifully arranged and very interesting. Not very accessible though - we had a stroller with us, and we had to take turns at going around the exhibits as there were steps everywhere (unless there is a lift / ramps that we didn't find).

I was only passing through on bike so I cannot give an honest opinion.
But from the outside it looks like a typically beautifully built medieval French castle.

Vitre is a delightful town, the castle is amazing but, there was a wedding so we didn't go in 🤗

Dive in another century, go visit Chateau Vitré for 6€ entrance.
Beautiful rooms refurbished and a good view over Vitré,.
Also an exhibition area with a local Artist , not all the Chateau is accessible, but its a nice place !

A fantastic castle with the town museum inside. The self-guided tour takes you through several rooms in the castle up and down steep stone steps. Great views over the picture-perfect town from the battlements. €6 ticket for adults. The museum is closed for lunch 12:30 - 14:00. Don't miss the goats in the moat.

Impressive castle in the very impressive old town of Vitre. A great place to walk through history and grab something to eat and drink. A charming town with reasonable parking.

Excellent Worth a visit Lots of stairs to climb but worth it . Great restaurant opposite for lunch. 16 euros 3 course .

Very nice architecture. Well preserved. Organized visit. Nice maps and information at the entrance.

Excellent place to visit; reasonable 6eur fee. With no people, really get the full experience not rushing to get out. Free public parking.

Vitré castle is well worth a visit. Be prepared for climbing plenty of steep staircases but worth it for the effort to see the restored rooms and the views from the top of the main tower. The art display at the end relates to paintings by local artists who lived in Vitré and contains some amazing art work.

Impressive medieval fort, easy to see why it was an example of military excellence in the feudal period!

Vitre city is amazing place. Very nice atmosphere, wonderful buildings.

What a lovely place. Big and ancient castle in the heart of town Vitre♥💓♥ This castle is huge. You can enter it to see inside rooms. There is a balcony from which you will see all this town, it's beautiful 😍❤🔥❤

That’s one great castle to visit. The guided tour is short enough to keep folks focused; and the castle itself is very well maintained. There are lots of events throughout the year. We just went to the medieval village over the weekend and it was awesome! Felt like travelling back in time, really!
