We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful campsite in our caravan. It is an exceptionally peaceful place, maximising the natural advantages of its location by the lake, and is at the heart of a region full of attractive towns and villages rich in history. The site is extremely well organised and run by owners Stuart and Christine, whose personable and friendly style creates a welcoming and relaxed ambience. The site combines nature at its best with great facilities, overall a gem of a place.

We first found this site in April 2023. It was so relaxing in beautiful scenery and such lovely owners that we returned in April/May 2024. We are now hoping to return again in Sep 2024. You will not be disappointed.

2023 and still going back. The best camp site in France we have visited.

We visited this campsite late September 2011 as an escape from the campsite we were staying in locally which really disappointed. How different could the two be! The feeling of tranquility and space is unbelievable. Our pitch next to the lake was what we had been looking for and never achieved in the 30 years I have been camping. We used the campsite as a base to explore the area on road bikes, and what an area, it is quiet but beautiful with views that are a match for more mountainous areas. The facilities are exceptionally clean and well kept and the hosts are friendly without being intrusive, nothing is too much trouble, they are always willing to help and advise where to go and whats on. All in all we weren’t expecting to visit this campsite in 2011, but were exceptionally glad we did, so glad in fact that we booked to visit again this year (2012) on our way back from the Pyrenees. We arrived early again as the temperature in the mountains was 3 degrees at night and we wanted something a bit warmer and late teens at night proved to be exactly what we had been looking for. Even to our amazement 2 visits in a year wasn’t too much, we stayed another 7 nights and were never bored, and just arriving back at a lake pitch ensured we were relaxed as soon as we set up. I genuinely cannot foresee how we can tire of this site or area.

This was our 1st experience of Camping L' etang du camp & we would return. The family running the site are very friendly & helpful & made good recommendations of places to visit. You can order fresh bread & croissants daily. The site is very quiet & particularly clean. The location is very beautiful, quite remote, we would have got lost without satnav! We enjoyed the lively frogs in the lake!

Absolutely amazing place! It's a quiet place in the middle of nature with lots to do and see in the neigbourhood. On our way there we saw incredible views. If you want you can stay on the waterside or in the sun, we prefered more shade and being a little closer to the bathrooms so we chose a spot under the trees. The people running this place are so kind and take the time to provide tips and tell you about the region.
Furthermore the bathrooms are clean and the showers are very nice. Owners speak English, German and French.
We'll definitely come back!

The most tranquil, romantic, clean, beautiful and well-run camping. What an amazing time we had. There were multiple gorgeous camping pitches by a beautiful fishing lake, which was entertainment on its own with fishes and frogs amongst others and friendly buffalo nearby.
There is a road close by but there is pretty much zero traffic so we were totally unbothered by anything.
The showers were actually warm and adjustable, which is a welcome change, and the sanitaries were very clean and not overcrowded.
The owners were extremely nice and welcoming, speaking fluent English, French and German, and we followed multiple tips about things to do in the area, including lovely swimming spots, lovely places to walk and beautiful villages to visit.
We got everything we hoped for and more! I hope to visit again and would definitely recommend this camping to anyone.

Very friendly owners and their kids are so well behaved!

The place itself is very nice, surrounded by a lake, cows, and quietness, the spot is perfect.

Hot and clean showers.

Had a very good stay 3 nights in a row.

Close to many touristy spots.

A fantastic campsite with fantastic hosts. Both Christine and Stuart made us feel incredibly at home and welcome throughout our 2 week stay.

Loved the campsite, loved the local area and loved the ice cream sundaes!

The weekly food evenings were also a great way to meet other people on the site.

Thoroughly recommend and we shall certainly be returning again.

Great campsite! Large grassed pitches with shade. Washrooms were very clean. Gorgeous lake for fishing or admiring from the restaurant. Close proximity to Conques. A quiet and more secluded location perfect for families, couples or friends.

We arrived at L'etang Du Camp tired and with a screaming baby intending to only stay one night and move on. However we had such a warm welcome and the site was so lovely that we stayed for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. The site is beautiful, quiet and clean but what made us stay the extra 2 nights was the way the owners went out of their way to help and to make us feel welcome. From advising us on where to go to offering to pick up essential baby supplies for us we couldn't have been happier.

I've camped in many campsites in Europe and the UK over the years and this one is by far the best. The campsite itself is stunning, well looked after and clean. A hidden gem in the french countryside and there's plenty of space between the pitches and privacy to. It's set by a beautiful lake with lots of trees that provide much needed breeze on a hot summers day. Much cooler than down in the villages or even by the rivers - great to visit though and swimming in the local rivers is really recommended. A family run site by Christine, Stu, Keith and Sue who were so welcoming, friendly and generous with their information on the local area. They speak 3 languages fluently to - German, French and English. One evening Christine arranged bread making over a campfire to which was fun for the children and a great way to meet other campers to. The campsite felt very safe. The children borrowed bicycles and spent much of the time cycling round the campsite with their new friends while we switched off! We stayed in one of their safari tents. We flew out to Toulouse and hired a car so hiring a safari tent meant we didn't need to bring any kit with us - just small cabin bags. We had a comfy double bed with 2 singles for the kids. The canvas tent stayed cool even on the hottest day. There was also cutlery and a cooker to. There is also a new coffee shop where you can get a wide selection of quality coffees, homemade ice-creams and croissants and baguettes for breakfast. Local art adorns the walls - with Wifi if you want to contact the outside world. Christine let us know about late night French food markets, walks, swimming pools... One week here is not enough - next year we'll be back for a lot longer. What a treasure to discover...

This is a gem of a site in an amazing part of France, it is surprising that it is not well known - it was very quiet while we were there. The pitches are really large, separated by shrubs and they are partially shaded - very welcome in hot weather.

The site is well maintained and the sanitary facilities were very clean with good hot showers and even a basin with soap and towel for hand washing. There is a laundry with a washing machine and free Wi-fi is available around reception and the information room - which has DVDs and books to borrow. The site is peaceful with a large fishing lake and diverse flora and fauna. Christine, Stuart, Keith and Sue were really welcoming and were very knowledgable about the local area.

The site is in an area with stunning scenery, it is centrally placed for visiting 5 of the ‘Most Beautiful villages of France’, Conques, the closest, should not be missed. There is plenty of local walking and cycling’, maps can be borrowed from reception. Cyclists, if they don’t fancy cycling back up the hill, can phone the site from St Cyprien and they will be picked up and brought back with their cycle - what a service! An ACSI card gives a discount in the low season.

We hope to return!

The place to be.

This campingsite is a jewel for everyone who is looking for silence in a beauthifull envirement.
The owners are verry nice, friendly, and helpfull. The pitches are verry big and there is a lot of shadow.
The toilets are not the newest but verry clean. Do not expect mass tourism here…no swimming pool, no animation, no disco….but basic camping as it should be.
If you want your holliday in a stressless envirement, this is the placet to be.
I will certainly come back and would recommand it to people without children
