We enjoyed our visit to this pretty unique Chateau. Unlike a recent reviewer, who saw overcrowding and falsehood-(Thousands!!...where?) What we saw was an ancient chateau, built and rebuilt-in keeping with its history and the story of the region. (A very well put response too😉)
This history is self evident, however it is also expertly told, via an included device, in multiple languages. Another big plus point is the remarkable story of Josephine Baker, most likely unknown to many non-French visitors. An eye-opening experience and highly recommended!
Although we have had a home not too far from the Chateau for some years, this was actually our first visit, I'm pretty sure we will return, and with other family members.
Highlight the age/authenticity v practicality, preservation and cost of historic buildings, our own humble house incorporates a number of developing features over its pretty puny 250 years, the Chateau is almost three times this age! It's pretty simple really!
The story of the little church is also an interesting aside.
The gardens and water festures are excellent and worth a visit in their own right, and we also enjoyed the food in the brasserie.
Well done, to the family owners and congratulations.

Well worth a visit to fully understand the history of Chateau Milandes.
The Chateau has a very interesting history prior to Josephine Baker. The Chateau has a fantastic English or French self guided audio tour with many many interesting artifacts. The garden are very well laid out and maintained.
One thing not too be missed "Le spectacle de Rapaces" The bird of prey display is delivered by the passionate falconry team.
Highly recommended.

Such an amazing place loaded with history. The audio guide is excellent and you get to find out about the extraordinary life of Josephine Baker who lived a great deal of her life here. The shop sells nice things and the cafe /restaurant is very nice too. Don't miss the show with the birds of prey-impressive!
You can easily spend more than three hours exploring everything.

Was a very interesting place, where Josephine Baker lived for some of her amazing life. Definitely buy you tickets online or there can be a long queue. Quieter in the morning.

Fantastic Chateau in the heart of the Dordogne region. Interesting history too with it being the home of Josephine Baker. Priced reasonably and nice food options too! We enjoyed the audio tour and the Falconry displays!

A preserved castle wich presents the life of the great black American stage’s performer, Josephine baker, in france during the beginning of the 20’s century. There is also an interesting show of several predator birds.

Wonderfully restored Chateau which highlights the career of Josephine Baker, who lived there. Apart from that the gardens are beautiful and it really makes a great day out. There is a brasserie and others areas just to sit and enjoy your picnic. The water features gardens and trees are truly lovely. Lots of wild and exotic birds on view too. Highly recommend for couples and families.

Beautiful castle, totally in memory of it's most famous inhabitant: Josephine Baker. With a nice chapel and a birds of prey show.

Excellent tour. Falconry show was a very good way to start the day, followed by lunch. The afternoon we spent touring the chateaux followed by a walk around the gardens. Nice relaxing day finding out about an amazing woman. Thankyou so much for allowing us to enter your grounds.

Had a wonderful day visiting Domme for the market and then onto Chateau des Milandes.. what an amazing place. The best value for money place I've visited in France.
There was a bird of pray display as we arrived.. lots of information as they demonstrated the beautiful birds close up.
The restaurant was amazing too, excellent quality food, and the gardens with the aviaries was stunning.
The Chateau was stunning, lots of information of its history but to hear more about Josephine Bakers life was a great treat.
I would highly recommend.

A very nice castle and gardens to visit. The entrance fee is not cheap but it is totally worth is. The bird show is interesting as well as the exotic animals. Very nice to visit with small children. The castle inside is also very nice with audio guide in different languages. But not that interesting for the smaller children's.

Lovely chateau with a very interesting history of Josephine Baker. If you don’t know about her, I urge you to look her up. A very thought provoking exhibition of her life and times with some of her beautiful costumes.
Good restaurant onsite with sensible prices and beautiful gardens to walk through. Easy, plentiful parking including disabled spaces.

Some years since our previous visit, lots of positive changes. A really interesting chateau, newly renovated and open chapel, gardens with a variety of exotic birds.
The brasserie is excellent and means more time to enjoy the place. The bird show is fun.

Wow…. This is an absolute must to visit if you are in the area. Stunning gardens, extremely informative tour of the chateau with an audio guide, amazing falconry display and some lovely exotic birds to see en route around the grounds. We had lunch outside on the terrace at the restaurant which was also excellent.
Great value for money and a thoroughly great afternoon in the lovely sunshine.

Lovely afternoon visiting this château. While the displays do concentrate more on the exotic side of Josephine Baker's life, it is an engaging story of a talented woman. We enjoyed lunch at the reasonably priced restaurant in the château, we followed the archaeological history and restoration of the Chapel, explored the castle itself and were wowed by the falconry display.

We had the most delightful, if somewhat warm visit. The children loved the bird show and were thrilled with the children’s audio tour. A fantastic day out

Beautiful castle with an amazing insight into the unique life of Josephine Baker. Besides the opportunity to see the inside of the castle, there is a beautiful garden and a lovely bird show multiple times a day. Definitely a must to visit, if you are in the neighbourhood!

Really nice experience.

Beautiful gardens and an excuisite tour where the theme was mainly around the life and story of Josephine Baker - a truly memorable experience.

Also the whole experience was very well organsied, with audio guidance in a choice of some 10 different languages, good float between the various exhibitions and welcoming staff all around.

Finished off with a lunch which was tasteful, and more important at that point very efficient.
