Wonderful, beautiful views. Walk if you can or take the 5km long train that takes you to the top. Height of about 1450 meters the air is pure and cool. There is a café serving local inspired food. Busy in summer month.

This is a fantastic place to visit, I would highly recommend going. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time unfortunately to go up to the weather station at the top. I would definitely go back again. The view from the volcano is breathtaking.

4 adults 2 dogs. Took the train up to the top, Dined in the cafe, watched the paracenders, walked round the top, enjoyed the clear views and the educational displays, walked back down. All very enjoyable. Ordering from the cafe a bit long winded ( download the menu, order and pay on your phone, then fetch from the servery) but the food was good, we ate the vegitarian offerings and sat under the awnings during a short, heavy, shower. Walked back down on the longer route. All very lovely. Toilets and facilities clean & well maintained. Next time we might walk up and train down.

I recently visited Puy de Dôme and had an exceptional experience with the Panoramic des Dômes.
Starting my journey, I took the navette from the arrêt Maison de la Culture. The shuttle was timely, comfortable, and made reaching the base station effortless. The staff were courteous and helpful, ensuring a smooth start.
I bought a family round-trip ticket for the Panoramic des Dômes train.The train ride itself was a delight, featuring large windows that offered panoramic views of the beautiful Auvergne landscape. The ascent was both scenic and relaxing.
At the summit, we visited the Temple of Mercury, which was both educational and awe-inspiring. The historical site is well-preserved, and the information provided about its significance was enlightening. The views from the top were breathtaking, providing a full appreciation of the region's natural beauty.
Highly recommended!

This is the train station that takes you up to the summit of Puy du Dome. Good service train every 20 minutes.

Note that taking the train is quite expensive, it's ok to do it once but the interesting bits are at the foot of the mountain, more trails to discover !

Rack railway that runs visitors to the top of Puy de Dôme. Well worth the trip to enjoy 360 degree views of the volcanic hills and scenery. On the way up and down the train has large windows to enjoy the views so visibility is excellent. Good to visit if you are in the area.

When you just want to escape the busy city life and have a moment to yourself, just visit Puy de dome and you'll find it. For Clermont-Ferrand residents, it is particularly accessible since it only 20-30 minutes away from the city center. Also, the Municipality of Clermont-Ferrand provides public transport till the base-camp. There are two ways to reach the summit- the panoramique train and a trail of about 90 minutes. While the train do provide convenience and save a lot of time, I'd suggest to go for the short trail since that'll truly make you appreciate the place in it's purest form. The trail is pretty safe to follow and quite enjoyable. There is good options on the top for refreshments and entertainment. There's also a museum which one can enjoy. All-in-all, a must visit place if looking to escape the busy life.

The train was clean and comfortable, with clear views all the way up.
The pathways at the top, are mainly concrete, and are well layed out. Traveling around the site, is therefore easy, although steep in places.
The views of the surrounding countryside are fabulous, and there are many picture boards pointing out the many and numerous view points, giving each its name.
Of course there is the obligatory cafe, serving mainly light snacks, and a souvenir shop.
Free parking as well.

Nice train ride up and down the mountain. Great views and if you’re feeling adventurous you can go hanggliding. Meals available at the base of the mountain as well as the summit.

A lovely place to visit, the tram up was lovely with spectacular views,unfortunately with having problems with walking I couldn't manage to go up to the top, my son went up, I stayed near the cafe and had an ice cream

The Puy de Dome is a unique Paragliding site as you have the ability to take off in any wind direction. The views are stunning and it’s very accessible due to the train. Well worth a visit for those who fly or are interested in doing a tandem flight.

Absolutely stunning place to visit and we loved the train ride! Great facilities at the top and bottom of the dome! Would definitely do this again and highly recommended!

Breathtaking views of the volcanoes and landscape. Great to watch the parapente take off and soar into the sky. The train up was a big hit with the kids!

Great place. You can spend a lot of time up there. Superb views, paragliders, walking trails, ruins of acient template, great souvenirs... And journey itself pleasent... But be warned it is scheduled service
