Restaurant L'Hippocampe

Authentic restaurant, popular with locals and holiday makers, with friendly, genuine staff. Large, varied and interesting menu that provided a real range of dishes and prices, portions were generous without being too much. Reasonable kids menu but encourage them to sample something new and enjoy!

We had a wonderful evening meal here two days ago in late August. We hadn't made a reservation but we were welcomed in, straight to a table. We had Bertie, our large borzoi with us and he was made welcome too. Even though they were very busy the service was first class and our waiter was knowledgeable, charming and multi lingual! Although it is primarily a seafood restaurant my husband had the Trois Viendes and thought it excellent! I had the salmon tagliatelle which was gloriously buttery and the portions were quite large. Will definitely go again next time we are across the channel!

We had dinner here after a long drive and it was the perfect place to stop and relax. The place was buzzing: staff, although busy, made everyone feel welcomed and food as well as drinks were served quickly and efficiently. My husband and I both had just mains: Moules & Tartare de Saumod and both were delicious. Washed down with a demi of Riesling, it was one of the nicest meals we have had by the sea outside summer season. I would absolutely stop here again.

Fab place to eat! Superb service made a space for us even though we didnt book. Had moules frites and choccy mousse was lovely!
