Le Goéland 1951

Food was incredible. So much better than the aesthetics would lead you to believe, which is chill beach bar. But the food was spectacular. What did I get? I don’t even know what it was. I asked the waiter for his recommendation. It was 19 euro. Started with a P. For once in France, we were greeted immediately, seated, menus brought, orders taken promptly. No waiting around, although he invited us to, no rush. Beautiful views of the bay. Best food I’ve had in France, from Paris to Le Mans.

We stumbled across this place quite by chance whilst searching the internet. Super atmosphere with beautiful views across the sea. Food and service was excellent. Considering that they were busy we were not rushed. Can't say enough positive things. If you're in the vicinity you've just got to go.

We visited here twice during our holiday in Saint-Vaast-La-Hougue. The first time we had missed lunch but had cocktails followed by wine and oysters. The pina coladas were excellent as were the oysters. The second visit was for tapas lunch and it was excellent. We had gambas (perfect), clams (recommended), fish & chips (great batter), patatas bravas (nice but an unusual sauce) and chorizo baked with mozzarella (good but not my favourite). Great service, great views and dog friendly with a sandy beach to explore down the steps.

Had a wander down and what a place 😀

A beautiful pub like restaurant offering a wonderful dining experience. They take great care in paying attention to every thing that they offer on their menu, including several local ingredients. We had the Saint Vaast oysters (famous for their hazelnut taste) and the fish and chips, the burger was also a great choice. Also they have the best coffee I’ve ever tasted in a restaurant- it’s roasted locally at the famous “maison Gosselin” shop.

The view is also gorgeous.

Really good food at reasonable price in a beautiful location

Perfect place to go with or without kids! Good service (not very usual in Normandy), good food. You can sit and drink while the kids play on the beach. Book at least 2 days ahead if you want to go on the weekend.

The food is good with reasonable price, the staff is very friendly even with the youngest family member 😉, the decoration is original and the atmosphere is really nice!
