Lovely peaceful campsite set within an Orchard. Friendly and helpful staff. Reasonable price. Newly opened on site cider and beer tap room. 👌

It is rare to have a campsite that has everything...Lower Porthamel is one of them! We had a wonderful time staying at Lower Porthamel. Nestled in the hills overlooking the Brecons, the orchard was a natural haven to relax in. Sleeping under the orchard trees hearing the birds wake up was something truly special.

Claire and Adrian were fantastic owners, checking that everyone at the campsite was ok and were really attentive. All campers were given plenty of space to enjoy their time and the facilities were always clean. We had great communication and support in booking our stay and they have created an incredibly friendly space.

And I haven't even mentioned the incredible on site brewery! Very special to have apple juice from the orchard we were sleeping under. We will be back <3

We just got home from our second stay at Lower Porthamel. Absolutely love the place, there's no doubt we will be visiting the camp site again this year. The toilets and showers are spotless. The onsite micro brewery is a added bonus!

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC.

great location, beautiful orchard, not crowded and the owners are lovely. Showers and toilets are extremely clean, which was very important for me. You have a communal fridge and freezer, access to power plugs and portable fire pits are available on request.

This was my very first camping experience and I loved it. Would definitely recommend.

There's so much to like about this campsite... Pitching amongst an orchard, car free field, nature walk a few yards from our pitch (with a river for dog/child paddling), seeing for children, on site tap room with great beer/ cider, delicious charcuterie & cheese boards at the tap room, fire pits/ logs available, very friendly and helpful staff.

As others have said: very friendly, great communication and facilities, good for families, the delicious beer and cider in the tap room will cheer you up if it's a bit rainy.

Really nice site with friendly owners. Lots of space to pitch, didn't feel crowded at all. The facilities are clean and well maintained. The bottle shop onsite is great too!

One tiny improvement would be having a gatepost to secure the gate when you're driving in to load and unload. At the moment there's nothing to hold it open which makes driving in tricky if there's a slight breeze!

All in all, a lovely stay and I would definitely return.

Thank you very much! We’ve camped a lot, and this place is definitely one of our favorite! The place is clean, quiet and beautiful, and the tenants absolutely lovely. I can only recommend this camping, and maybe add their apple juice is a must to try ! Cheers !

Didn’t use the rooms as camping.

Beautiful location, the facilities are spotless (despite it being a muddy weekend) there are toilets, hot showers, clean well maintained dish wash room. Fridge, freezer, phone charging can be done in the barn.

The owners are lovely, nothing is too much trouble and when fellow campers had a tent malfunction they were quick to help and an alternative was provided within minutes.

You can use the fire pits, buy wood, apple juice, food and drinks.

Beautiful location, fantastic price, so much to do in the area.

A lovely little spot which offered us a really authentic, peaceful camping spot. Facilities were spotless and the additions of plugs, fire pits and bbqs were much appreciated, as were the welcoming hosts who couldn't do enough to help. Wish we could have stayed longer and explored the surrounding area more- we will be back!

A real gem of a place to stay. Claire is extremely helpful and friendly. It is very well looked after campsite set in a little orchard. The showers and toilets always clean. The scenery is stunning. Sat round a campfire every night watching the sun go down. Very well located for beautiful walks in the Black Mountains. We have been 3 years running and will be going for a 4th. A real must! :)

Lovely campsite, great setting and very peaceful for a weekend walking trip! Owner Claire was very friendly and helpful, if a bit stressed due to the chaos caused by the Haye festival.

Amazing place to stay. Small, family run business, barn and camping site located in the orchard and farm. Close distance to many interesting places.

Very nice campsite set in great surroundings with lots to do for families. Highly recommend staying here during the Hay Festival!
