Came here for Bristol film festival and had a brilliant evening with very informative wine tasting. 10/10 would recommend

Wine shop with wide collections of wines, choices for all wine lovers. Hall downstairs with Kitchen which can be rented to arrange events and parties, well maintained for a place with historical touch and stories. Kudos to Averys Team.

The tasting events are really good and worth their money.
Update in March 2024: nothing has changed my opinion. We go regularly to their tastings and keep being wine here. There are often special deals that are worthwhile looking out for.

Wine wanted was unavailable but was recommended an alternative which was on a par with unavailable wine. Thank you for a very acceptable substitute.

I was standing in the Tesco round the corner debating my options of the different classic reds. I'm having a meal tonight so was willing to splash a couple quid extra and maybe get the Casillero. But I've had a bit of a cruddy day at work today and the lack of variety was getting me unexplainably angry. So I decided to look up "wine" on Google maps, and Avery's was just a 4m walk so figured I'd check that out.

I was welcomed with a warm reception from the friendly cashier, but what surprised me most was how relaxed he acted and how relaxed he made me feel. Whenever I've walked into wine shops like this in the past you get a general sense of unease that you're going to be harassed until you make a purchase; however I was asked why I was visiting today and then left to my own devices. After I received my complimentary glass of red to explore the beautiful cellars within of course.

The wine was separated by regions, and as I gazed around the beautiful interior my second wine cellar dread creeped in; cost. With wines starting from 7.99 there was actually plenty of options around the £8-10 range. As the wine started taking effect, all my worries from the day began to subdue and I headed to the basement to explore the art gallery on display at the moment.

I ended up buying a bottle of Florbela, Portuguese, for £9.99 and can't wait to crack into it tonight. What a lovely shopping experience. I might have to go wine shopping more often!

Avery's are just fantastic, deliveries always prompt and as promised. Any questions/queries regarding different wines speak to Abbi,she is a star! Always knowledge, informative and just comes across as a nice person. Ordering the wine is as good as drinking it!

This is an exceptional company. I've never tasted a wine from Averys which didn't delight. Very reasonable prices considering the quality, even for someone on a careful budget. It's no surprise that they've been in business for nearly 250 years! Thanks.

Unbelievable service. Original order of 6 bottles turned up within 48 hours, the decanter had a crack in it, so they sent another one out and that arrived within 48 hours too, with a complimentary bottle of wine. Best customer service I've dealt with for a long time, top marks

I always met a friendly staff who actually take time to give advice and help you find the best wine to match the taste. And it always work as my friends are always happy and baffled how I managed to pick the good wine. Proven many times

Popped in today to grab a bottle of sauvignon. The lady on the till (forgot to ask her name!) was knowledgeable and friendly. Will be back!

Still a jewel in Bristol's crown! Nice to see the remodeling finished since I last visited. Great to pop in for a flying visit, fab choice of wines and advice, but equally wonderful tastings... Wish I lived closer!

Whatever you're looking for (unless it's bad wine!?!), with the wide selection on offer and knowledgeable staff, you'll be pretty much guaranteed to find a bottle or three that suits your needs. Just try to be patient and wait until you get back before opening!

I've attended 2 spectacular events with this company one large and one small- both were amazing!! Our wine evening was wonderful (for a birthday and it went down very well, the guys that night were awesome, had a nice chat to them and didnt feel they ever tried to push their preference but instead listened to what I liked and just got it!) So much knowledge thats very worth the time and money. Even had a slight issue with one purchase and the customer service and attitude from the staff was impeccable! I couldnt rate them more for their help resolving the issue. Would happily buy from them again once I finish the last bottle!

First visit today. A great selection of new world and old world wines in a gorgeous setting. I only popped in for a browse but left with a mixed case of 12 Burgundies... I'll be back!

Best wine tasting in Bristol. Arch House Deli Cheese and Wine night is one of the best ways to sample some wines (and cheeses) and pick up a great discount too! Lovely staff, great service and awesome cellars. Highly recommended!

I usually buy my son whisky for his birthday. Not being a whisky drnker myself I need advice. They have always beenso helpful and knowledgeable, spent a lot of time helping me we have had a fun time choosing. Whenever I have bought wine it has always been good quality and not overpriced.

Couldn't order on line, too confusing for this octogenarian! Rang Bristol and was treated with the utmost courtesy and efficiency by staff member whose name, sadly, I did not get. Ordered my 12 Spain's Greatest Hits with no trouble and am happy to compliment and thank Averys.
