Dog House

We had a family funeral wake at the Dog House, it's just a few minutes' drive from the South Oxfordshire Crematorium. We had our own separate function area, the staff were extremely helpful both before and on the day. They had thought of everything, like smart white table cloths and a memories table where we put flowers, photo frames and an old photo album. We went for the smaller buffet option plus teas and coffees. The food was amazing and there was loads left. They helped lots of guests take some home by supplying cardboard takeaway boxes. We stayed on into the evening, just the close family, and had a lovely time remembering grandma. Cannot fault it in any way. An excellent venue for a wake. Thank you to Emma, the chef and all the staff on the day.

Our stay at the Dog House has been nothing short of amazing! The service is outstanding - a special mention for Andrew who looked after us during our breakfast: he was so attentive and catered for our every need. Breakfast was delicious and the poached eggs were perfect (thanks chef James!)

The Dog House is very clean, has good facilities and has a lovely English-pub feel. It is the perfect hotel for our getaway with our big fur-baby. All their staff are so lovely and we felt so welcome.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back. Thank you!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Had an early Mother’s Day lunch today for 4 people , it was all of ours first visit and we were very pleasantly surprised
Although the staff were dealing with a large group of diners , we did not feel overlooked at all
Our waitress was attentive and friendly and informed us with an apology about a slight delay in our meals coming from the kitchen due to the large party , we were more than happy to sit & chat and it wasn’t a issue
Our food arrived & it was delicious, fresh and hot and to our minds very good value
Our first experience was an enjoyable one , we felt welcomed and valued , we will definitely be returning, thank you all of the lunch time team

We often come for Sunday lunch as we live local. Came today I had roast pork and my husband had the beef was absolutely delicious and good size portions. Lovely atmosphere with low music in the background. Staff were polite, helpful and friendly, only had to wait 10 minutes before food arrived. Will definitely continue to come.

Just had the most amazing Christmas dinner with the Dog house, the service was exceptional, was like having Christmas with friends! They don’t get greedy and over book, so no waiting or rubbish service! The food was to die for and the children’s portion was huge! All for just 69.99 with a Prosecco! Honestly can’t wait to book for next year! Well done team! Merry Christmas

We popped in during the festive period, the pub was lively & staff busy but they made space for us to have lunch, they kindly went out of their way for my gluten free mother to have what she wanted. The staff were fantastic, upbeat and nothing was too much trouble. Lewis and another lady served us and they were second to none. I would highly recommend this pub to anyone passing & look forward to coming again in the future.

We found the dog house a warm and welcoming place. The food great and so was the room. The staff were absolutely brilliant. In particular Simon who made are stay just lovely. Nothing was too much trouble and he had a great and lively personality. Just great will be coming again and thanks to all the other staff

We had a great overnight stay in this pub. Our room was large, clean and homely. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. The food was also great and catered to gluten free. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

We visited last Tuesday and was greeted by Simon behind the bar. He originally warned us off that they were so busy due to a Wedding party that they wouldn't be able to accommodate us for food. We chose to grab a drink anyway to decide were to go instead. As Simon delivered our drinks and told us that he'd negotiated with the chef and that they could squeeze us in! He recommended some dishes, I went for the Sirloin and the food arrived so quickly. Super happy with the service, everyone was attentive and friendly and Simon went beyond for us, thank you!

We stayed here, myself, son & husband after my son had a driving experience day at the airfield, the staff were very welcoming & helpful, we hadn't booked a table for an evening meal but they managed to fit us in, i'm so glad they did as the food was served in a timely manner & was excellent! There was a good selection of drinks & I was able to try a new gin (Hendricks Flora Adora) it is now on my Christmas list. Breakfast was more than ample, we asked if there was any possibility that they had room for us to have Sunday lunch & again they were very accommodating & managed to fit us in, so after a brisk walk we went back to relax before our lunch, again served & cooked to perfection. The rooms were clean & comfortable, we all came away feeling very relaxed & refreshed, we highly recommend The Dog house & will definitely be staying there again. 😊

My partner and I went for a meal on Wednesday 17th January, and had the most wonderful service from Stephen and Lewis.
The food was incredible and all came out in a timely manner, beautifully plated and fantastic quality.
We left in an amazing mood and would recommend to anyone

Lovely warm feel on arrival. Andrew was a fantastic host and was very friendly and extremely accommodating. We ate brunch and I had, what I am comfortable saying, are the best poached eggs I’ve eaten 🙂Food was A+++

Absolutely wonderful place! Great atmosphere, amazing food and exceptional service! A huge thank you to Helen for being so lovely and attentive. I would have love to have included photos of the food but honestly when it came it looked so delicious we got so excited and ate it all! Already booked again for a birthday in a few weeks.

Again another week away on business staying at the Dog House. Emma on reception was very helpful and friendly sorting me the same room each time I stay. The food is truly delicious from chef James and nothing is to much bother. Breakfast host Andrew is a joy to see at 7am he’s very friendly and starts your day off with a great breakfast and a smile. I hadn’t planned on visiting, but my car broke down on the side of the road right by the Dog House and I couldn’t have been luckier for that fact in the end! Andrew & James were so helpful and welcoming and what was a stressful morning was made so much better for taking a break there. Thank you!

Helen our server really looked after us during our visit and the food was excellent.

Visited for Valentines meal, food was fantastic and the service was excellent.
We don't visit often but when we do it's always a great experience with the only complaint last night that the real ales choice was limited.

Excellant hotel. Nice and clean and we were all well looked after. Food and drink we fab! Staff were very friendly and could not do enough.
Will be staying here again in the near future.

I went with a group of friends to their Murder Mystery night with a set menu. The food and entertainment was fab! We all had a great night out. Please do more murder mystery nights!
