Ye Olde King's Head Hotel, Chester

I had a spooktacular time at Ye Olde Kings Head (aka My Haunted Hotel) with the ladies! We received a friendly welcome and enjoyed some wickedly delicious meals with menu names that sent shivers down our spines. The historic and spooky vibes, plus a roaring fire, made it an unforgettable haunt-tastic experience! The icing on the eerie cake – the view of the spooky doll shop across the road cranks up the vibe at Ye Olde Kings Head! Talk about a perfectly haunted setting for a meal of thrills and chills. 👻

I visited again for a drink on my birthday 3d April on my own, the staff is friendly and welcoming. I love the timber beams. I was a bit worried that the place had changed much due to the haunted hotel experience next door. I was sat in a corner in the side room next to old chap Henry portrait and let me tell you I had a little unexpected spooky experience myself, only had a pint so it was not my alcohol levels. Looks like they have a few ghosts indeed. I will definitely come back. And if you're not into history or ghosts they have a decent selection of drinks anyway.

Ye Old Kings Head is a special place to visit. It was built in the 1600s, and has so much history, and is reputed to be haunted by 14 known ghosts!
The food menu is very good, all food is freshly prepared, great value for money and tastes amazing!
A great atmosphere. For families, groups of friends, couples and solo visitors, everyone is welcomed by the very able, competent and polite staff.
A great place to visit, to take in the atmosphere and pass an hour or two.

A big thank you to Demi and the team for looking after us so well. We hosted my partners 45th birthday party which was Medieval themed, we hired the function room upstairs and used the throne room. Demi was excellent with communicating, nothing was too much to ask for. The food was excellent especially the Tempura prawns and Beef stew. Our barmen were attentive and even acted in character for the theme. I highly recommend having your next event here. We didn’t have any ghosts about but they were welcome to join 😁 5 stars to you guys! Thanks for looking after us. We will be back!

Best pub in Chester so far. Great food. Great beer, all available, no cooler problems like everywhere else. Staff absolutely brilliant. Perfect

Called in with our dogs late afternoon and glad we did its a place full of character fabulous staff and a lovely roaring fire. A must to visit if in Chester. Highly recommended.

Welcoming to wet, cold and soggy customers and our dog. Food was far better than we had expected from the menu and was freshly prepared and tasty. We had the beef stew, the fish and chips and the gammon followed up with an excellent cheese cake and lemon meringue pie. All delicious!

We used only the restaurant and it was great. My husband was not impressed with the vegetarian option ( pea risotto) - not enough taste - that's why 4 stars.. also 1 course and drinks for 4 people under £80.....
no inside to the hounted hotel, though - not breve enough!

My favourite pub in Chester by far. Jade, Karla, Erica, Leon, Kieran, Oelfe ( sorry about the spelling) and of course, Harry, always treat me like a Lord and I really couldn't ask for more anywhere.
The food is excellent, the beer, very well kept. The fire is always lit when required and the conviviall attitude of all the staff makes everyone who comes in thoroughly enjoy the experience and everyone looks forward to coming back again.

An historical pub which has loads of character, an open fire place, a great playlist in the background and a cracking pint of Cruzcampo, happy days!

Lovely qwerky old pub full of character. Staff are welcoming and pleasant and food was excellent. Can't wait to return.

Myself , partner and daughter Had a lovely meal here last week in this old haunted pub. Food was very nice indeed and had gluten free options which catered for our needs and was fairly priced.the service was absolutely amazing and probably the nicest pint of lager I've enjoyed in a while and a nice selection of gluten free cider for my partner too... Will definitely visit again on our next trip to Chester. 👍 👌

Brilliant pub in the heart of Chester!
It's a place I've visited everytime we are in Chester! It's a fantastic building with a lovely friendly atmosphere. It's a traditional style building with beams and a log fire (which in the winter is awesome!) The staff are great and friendly and they have a great food menu! I got the vegan Thai red curry and It was spot on but they have a large varied menu fit for everyone!
It's nicely decorated and very comfortable for a session, some food or just a quick pint
Would really recommend visiting the old king's head!

Went for the food, stayed for the atmosphere and the My Haunted Hotel open day. Thoroughly fascinating and intriguing place full of history and mystery.

Now called the haunted hotel, excellent service,the food was quick to arrive and very nice , prices were cheap compared to most places in Chester

Only recently found out about this pub/inn after spotting the My Haunted Hotel poster outside and then started to watch their YouTube channel out of curiousity. Grabbed a quick pint in there last night. Spooky place, nice staff, and the drink prices are very reasonable too! (They don't just serve spirits!)

A great pub, staff very helpful. I saw a black dog, a parrot and a lady in dark clothing with a white veil or cloth over her face. These were spirits before you ask. The lady was not very happy and seemed upset. The dog was about the size of a lab and just pottering around the place. As for the puppet In The fire place I did not feel anything untoward, but not to say its good or bad. Being a physic medium for years it's not unusual. Wod defo go back for a hunt or sleep over. One of the pubs In Chester I have not done a ghost hunt as the medium..
