Very good shop

Always happy to support local businesses and it’s a handy shop for last minute presents. God help you if you ask for a piece of the huge stack of pink tissue paper to protect your purchase though. Twice I have been on the receiving end of a big sigh and reluctantly allowed a piece. Yesterday I see there is now a price of 10p attached to a sheet but as my card payment had gone through and I didn’t have any coins I wasn’t allowed one. The way it’s guarded you would think it was gold leaf. I’d imagine the margins for the products they sell are fairly healthy, I can’t understand why you wouldn’t just factor in a few pence for customers to walk away without feeling like they’ve just had their pants pulled down.

Says open 10:30 to 4:30. I got couple of times in time and nobody was there in the morning Also wanted to pop in today just check some kimono for present but probably the last 10 minutes doesn’t count. I think most of people work in day time like me , and no chatting shop here 😔

I love this shop and it’s my go-to for gifts but after today’s experience I will not shop here again. I was sold a hot water bottle for £20 only to be told whilst the shop assistant was wrapping it that it had the wrong price on it and was actually £34. I pointed out that she had already completed the transaction but she seemed to think it was totally reasonable to ask me to refund it unless if I wanted to pay the £14 difference. Legally the item was mine, however, I just said ‘i think that this is bad customer service’ but she did not concede and continued to make excuses for the mistake. I said that it was unfortunate but that it would make me think twice about shopping there again but still she thought it was ok to ask me to refund the item. I was happy to do so as I don’t wish to spend my money in independent shops that have so little respect for their customers. TBH I can buy a very similar item for cheaper than this on Amazon but I like to support local businesses. She did say sorry but not thanks for me doing what she asked even though I was not under any obligation to do so. Such a shame.

we used to shop here all the time as it was a lovely local shop for clothes and gifts. Unfortunately this is no longer a pet friendly shop as we found out be receiving a rude response to our request for whether our dog could come into the shop, even though she had been in the shop during the summer.
