Fantastic country pub with seating inside and outside. There is covering on some of the outside seating on less sunny days. Very dog-friendly.

The view is fabulous, as is the food. Superb roasts, ploughman’s and desserts with a good selection of drinks.

This place pairs beautifully with the plethora of gorgeous walks and rides all around the area. Booking at the weekend is strongly advised - it’s rightfully very popular.

Visited on the 4th February for a Roast and a visit yesterday for a Drink reminded what great service we received from Eliza. The roast was just right when we came in for the Beef about a month ago, real care and thought had gone into what a traditional roast should be, the team had delivered a great plate.

The views are fantastic from the garden and everyone is lovely there.
The customer service makes a big difference and will ensure we come back time and time again, Eliza is a great asset to your team.

Really lovely spot with easily one of the best vegan roasts we have tried.

Everyone was friendly and they welcomed walk ins from hikers, families and cyclists.

They only accept cash tips and very much deserve them, so please bear that in mind when you come

We will absolutely come back!

I enjoy the kind of complaints that I read, because it means that if I have lower expectations I might be able to get a table easier…
Does that make sense?
I loved the food, the ambiance, and the service. I went with my daughter after doing half of our hike. A couple of pints and I lovely pastry filled with meat vegetables gravy classic British fare.
A spectacular view, and all in all it was a lovely day.

My friend and I had a lovely lunch at the King William today. Bella was so great. She was attentive, friendly and had great recommendations for the menu.

As always, our recent visit was perfect! The staff are always very friendly and helpful, and the lovely youngsters always welcome us with a smile and have a very pleasant attitude. The food is always amazing (the lamb roast is out of this world), and the delicious desserts never fail to please. In the warmer weather it is such a pleasure to sit outside on the delightful terrace with beautiful views, and when the weather turns colder, the interior is always warm and cosy, especially when the fire is going strong! It's a pleasure all year round to eat at the wonderful King William IV.

If you're reading this review and decide that you'll pass on The King William IV, you're crazy. You will miss out on the absolute best English Pub experience in the Surrey Hills. Not only is the building itself beautiful, but the views are phenomenal. The food is also elevated to a much higher standard than your normal pub grub. The autumn soup as a starter was warm, creamy and perfectly spiced. I had a chicken, leek and ham pie as my main - legitimately this is the best pie I've had in my life. Sticky toffee pudding rounded out the day and we joked that I'd need a wheelbarrow to roll me out! The owner was out conversing with everyone, making sure we were all happy. And we were. We plan to bring our families here when they come to visit from the US. Don't miss out on this place. If you do, you'll probably be haunted for all of eternity.

This pub is perfect all year round - cosy in the winter and stunning views from the garden in the summer. Lunch today was fantastic - the food was spot on (we had a mix of burgers, pies and salads on our table) and the service friendly (special shout out to Richard for this).

Tips: do book ahead as it’s popular and do take cash for tips as, whilst you can pay by card, only cash tips are accepted and they are well-deserved.

After the 8 mile Box Hill bike it’s lovely to finish at the King William for a refreshing beverage and a Sunday lunch! We have been here four times now and the food is excellent and the service is great. The garden is beautiful with amazing views and the the Sheer Drop beer is particularly good! We will definitely be back in September when the full Sunday lunch menu is back.

Really lovely lamb shoulder - the whole meal was lovely and tasty - especially the mint sauce. Service was good though would definitely book (as can get quite busy)

Cosy and welcoming little pub nestling on the side of Mickleham Downs. Good food and a very nice pint of Shere Drop.

Pleasant Terrace with heaters outside but definitely cosier inside in the winter.

Good place to go for a wander to from Box Hill.

Great pub in a nice setting. The only negative surprise was the gents, which was a tad old fashioned. Lots of atmos inside and a lovely garden. Can't comment on the food too much as we only had a cheese board. I did, however, look on enviously at the Sunday roasts that were coming out. Staff very welcoming and professional and we had really good service from Richard. Booking a must on Sundays though.

What a find...
Situated in the foothills of Boxhill, this stunning little pub was a great find. Booked for a table of 5 and this venue was superb. The food choice was excellent, well presented and more importantly, extremely tasty.
The service was friendly and the costs was extremely well priced.
Parking was a tad diffiult but we knew this before attending so we were not surprised and it didn't cause a problem.
I would highly recommend a visit and if I'm ever down that way in the future, I'll be making a return trip.

Really lovely pub with good choices of sandwiches, pub classics and continental choices.

Had the lamb liver and moules etc frites in a cider chorizo broth, really good.

Including 3 pints came to 51 pounds, tips are explicitly not added to the bill so it's at your discretion

A hidden gem of a place. Sunday roasts are very good value. Take cash for staff tips.

Gorgeous little pub tucked away from the main road, plenty of outdoor seating, SUPER friendly and efficient staff and the most delectable lamb roast I’ve ever eaten. I ordered fries instead of roast potatoes and damn they were crispy. They only take cash tips so bring cash cause you’ll need it for this place, hats off to the staff!

Really charming find, a cosy pub a little up the hillside with a lot of outdoor tables, many under shelter, with great views over the valley. Tasty and well presented food, I had the Sunday Roast lamb which was tender and tasty. Really friendly and helpful team of servers. We'll definitely be back.

Stopped off here for a drink during a walk through the Surrey Hills. Good selection of beers here and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I was also amazed to find they had a live band on playing jazz which was great. The outside garden is amazing with a really wonderful view. I would definitely like to come back again.
