Nice place to spend a couple of hours. It is located in a beautiful spot, serene and green. Nice cafe and second hand bookshop. The historical ruins won't take too much time to check out but it's certainly interesting.

We spent much longer here than expected. The main mosaics are well presented allowing you to study their detail at very close quarters. The rest of the site is also of great interest and the "Roman" guide was very knowledgable and interesting - adding considerably to the enjoyment of our visit.

Although it takes some driving on narrow country roads with passing places eventually you are rewarded with a view of the excavated remains of this massive Roman Villa nestled in a green valley. It dates back to the 5th Century AD and some finds here dating to the 6th Century effectively have rewritten history. It shows that the dark ages after the Romans departed were not so dark after all.
We had to park in the overflow car park as there are only limited spaces on the narrow road leading to the site.
It was very busy with some coach tour groups and a group of primary school children livening up the atmosphere.
An audiovisual aid guides you through the large site and gives you background information about the discovery of the villa and the various rooms. The mosaics floor preserved inside a big shed protecting it from the elements is simply awesome. The owner of this villa must have been an extremely rich and influential person.
A small museum on the site contains some of the finds from the various excavations here.
If you wish to learn a bit about what Roman life must have been like in 400AD in the outer reaches of the Roman empire do visit this place.

I didn't enter, but we walked outside and saw around. It is beautiful, and knowledge the way the Romans already had the habit to have the relaxing bath

The most complete Roman Villa that I have seen to date, with absolutely amazing Mosaics. The team have done a great job with the restoration and preservation of the site. Friendly, and very informative staff were able to answer any questions we had whilst visiting.

This is an excellent National Trust site and well worth a visit. Ancient Roman under-floor heating (hypocaust) systems can be seen in the Pilæ room and throughout the site, along with extensive mosaïcs on the flooring. There are a café, toilets, and shop in the entrance building. (There is a lot more to this site than my pictures depict.) Parking is limited, but you can park along the lane if necessary.

Lovely guided tour with Val. She was so engaging and knowledgeable.

We were on a walking tour and very glad we stopped for the tour and some food. Soup and a sausage roll hit the spot!

Nice gift shop and everyone working there was very nice.

Getting on for 2000 years of history, found purely by chance. Informative and interesting audio guide helps to make sense of the layout of the considerable villa. Some very detailed and impressive mosaics.

Located in beautiful rural countryside, down narrow lanes you find the Roman Villa.

With a poor phone signal, you feel like you have gone back in time. It is a short walk from the car park to the site entrance.

I didn't really know what to expect, but I wasn't disappointed.

The highlight being a modern conservation building, which provides exceptional access to the extensive mosaic floors, hypocaust systems and bath house rooms.

A nice place to wander round, I highly recommend the audio guide as it gives you lots of extra valuable information. There's the usual national trust shop snd cafe, scones were good. Needs a couple of hours to take it all in I'd say. Parking close by is limited, but there is an overflow car park a short walk away. Quite a lot of the site and exhibit is outdoors so suits better weather.

If you have any interest in history this is one you should visit. Everything is well labeled and the illustrated booklet has a guide in it. The mosaics are beautiful, the Manor must have been magnificent in its hay day. Access can be difficult on the narrow road. Save yourself time by going straight to the alternative car park. A great day out.

Good Roman remains can be few and far between in the UK, but it's always nice when a site is active, interactive, conserved and accessible. The guides are informative and kind, and clearly very knowledgeable and qualified, while the site is fantastic. the gardens are what you'd expect, but the mosaics have been conserved and presented similarly to those at Fishbourne Roman Palace, so are well worth visiting. The fee to enter is £13 which is a little on the steep end, there is a lovely little cafe and dining space, and the gift shop is pretty neat too. Car parking is ample for cars, minibuses, or coaches and I struggle to believe that they would fill up.

Very interesting National Trust Roman villa remains. Lot's of mosaics under cover (for obvious reasons) and remaining walls and foundations of a large Roman settlement. There is also a small Victorian museum exhibiting a small collection of Roman artifacts. Parking, café, shop and toilets on site. Inside and outside seating available. We used the audio guides available that were very informative.

Fantastic National Trust historical Roman Villa with genuine local artefacts, including stunning mosaic floors. Very informative and friendly staff, willing to answer even the most inane questions from my very inquisitive son with a typical ASD mind set!
We spent 2.5 hours enjoying the exhibitions, sensory objects and games before sampling their wonderful vegetarian soup.
Lots to see and touch but best to see all on offer on a dry day as lots of the remaining villa is outside.
No dogs allowed and by it's very nature (old Roman villa up a hill), I would say not wheelchair accessible.

A super historical site to visit. Beautifully kept and preserved with a good visitors centre, and interesting displays alongside the covered mosaic floors. Well worth visiting.
