Gorgeous place! Went there for a week in 2021 and had a great time. the ocean is amazing and the long road is fun to walk when it’s overflowed in water. When I was walking it (water was just around half up my shin) I saw 2 jellyfish crossing the road 🤣 had tons of fun there’s lots to do. Kids and adults will love it and is overall a 6 star place for me. Would love to be back

Had a very wet and windy night at Shell on the first night of our Welsh coast trip. Shell staff are so good they came and pulled us out of the boggy track we got stuck in. Nothing is to much trouble for any of the staff. Thank you Shell.

Great for an everyday camp!! Lovely views on each side. Great entertainment for adults and kids!
One minus- not enough space for washing dishes- very busy especially in the morning. I would suggest putting most dishwashing stations around the camp. Otherwise all super good!!!!
Will be back there!

Shell island is a fabulous place. Its like turning back the clock. Children are children and play with kites and crabbing. No one is overly concerned about their phones. Everyone is living in the moment.

Camping with a difference.

This site has so much to offer in relation to overnight staying.
You can change a different pitch every day. Or stay in the same place.

If you like your creature comforts, there are plenty back at the site entrance.
Showers, which are extremely clean and well set out.
Shopping for food, ect, gift shop, camping shop, launderette, bar, and a cafe/ restaurant, etc.

Find your own private little Paradise. There's plenty of them.

Plenty of toilets scattered over the place, fresh water also scattered here and there.
There are plenty of bins for your rubbish, which was great because there is only so much rubbish you can carry around in your camper, etc.
Tent camping is also available.

Staff were great and were happy to give their time.
Beach is very nice, plus the beautiful sand dunes.
Definitely be happy to camp here again. In fact, I am planning to return next year with some friends and family.
There are some remote spots on Shell Island, but don't let that fool you. The security is taken seriously, and there is plenty of tec to back it up. Yet it's not invasive. Lovely balance!
Another little gem. Give it a try, and you'll see for yourself.

Hands down the best campsite in Europe. Great onsite facilities, clean showers and toilets. Shops for essentials and beach / gift goods. The best views and sunsets close to two great towns. A castle, and miles of beaches. The best beaches and sand hills are on shell island though.

We brought our Scout Group for a Group Camp, over 70 people in total!
The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful.
The toilets and showers were exemplery and the shops had everything we needed. Useful laundrette and the pizza went down very nicely.
Glorious weather, the kids all a had a great time and so did the adults!

What an amazing place, has everything you need for a excellent vacation and very clean, grass was cut regularly and the staff was really helpful and went out of their way to make the holiday perfect, wheelchair friendly and carparks so you don't have to walk far. Highly recommended to all.

Love this place so much. Have been going for 40 years. You just can't beat the vista and everything you need is on site

A great place to go camping with lovely beaches. Sadly our experience was marred by some absolutely disgusting people and there was loud music after ten and very bad language with arguments between campers. I would suggest going out of peak season as this seems to be coming the norm these days.

Paid for a day visit - £10 for the motorhome. No caravans allowed on the island. Entry area has a reception, bar, gift and grocery shops, outdoor stuff shop, information centre - it felt a bit like a holiday camp !!! Not in a critical way, we just hadn't expected it all. Turns out it was a special weekend on the island with fireworks, music etc. We drove to the harbour, then over to the dunes, and then walked on the beach. Lovely. Rock pools galore. Crabs, shells and we even found lobsters 🦞. Plenty of public toilets, 2 elsan points, showers etc. A really good holiday feel, with families and friend groups all setting up. Don't forget to check the tidal timetable !!!!

Highly recommend the Oktoberfest weekend if you prefer something more lively! 😉

A huge area for tents or caravans among the dunes, mountains, ocean, with lots of bunnies and various birds. In silence, without electricity and with little internet access. In such a large area, there are many places with toilets and access to fresh water. The only place with showers and a place for washing dishes, laundry, bar, restaurant and shop is close to the reception. But that's not a problem.

The only problem is the strong wind that accompanied us quite often. Many tents were destroyed by this element.

An interesting attraction is the last part of the road to Shell Island, which is flooded with water. You can hit the time of high tide and then, unfortunately, you have to wait a few hours before the road is passable again. In addition, on this part of the road, after low tide, you can catch crabs.

This is one of the best places I've been to in Wales so far. I recommend Shell Island to everyone who likes camping trips.

We chanced an end of summer stay hoping that the British weather would be kind. It wasn't!

After a beautiful evening walk on the beach we saw the weather front coming in and it hit before we got back to the tent which it continued to destroy overnight.

We got out of there pretty sharpish the next morning but not before the staff had been round to check we were ok. A measure of the quality of how this place is run.

A stunning place whose location, whilst being very beautiful, can remind you that you can't fight nature. Do your research. Check the weather and don't forget to check the tides!

A very windy and unforgettable experience.

Amazing holiday at shell island. There's a south and north side, the south side has the sandy beach and the sand dunes north side is the Ricky beach and harbour. It can get a bit windy at times. The amenities are great toilets showers are spotless, there's a shop on site a bar restaurant camp shop and souvenir shop. And arcades. There also is a small football pitch and dog area where they can run free. The sunsets are amazing and if you're lucky you might see the dolphins. It's such an amazing place. One last thing the staff are amazing. And it's family run.

5 star for rooms because my tent is 5 star..... first time at shell island and although it was very windy I loved it. Just a great chilled 3 nights with camp fires and everything you need in one place, shops, clean showers and toilets, an arcade, bar, beach, crabbing harbour, sand dunes, great atmosphere.

Enjoyed a great week here camping. It's a huge site with lots of different fields and areas to put you're tent / motorhome. All staff are extremely friendly and helpful so are most visitors. Everywhere clean and lots of facilities. Fairly large shower block (free showers and electric for hairdryers etc) several different toilet blocks, everywhere clean and well maintained. Shop for food stuff, fresh, tinned etc (not cheap but useful for emergency items) camping shop which is stocked with everything you might have forgotten (apart from pillows.) Ice-cream shop (lovely) and a gift shop. Fantastic beaches. A great base to explore the west coast of Wales. I'll be going back!

Absolutely beautiful... It's perfect for camping. Right by the beach and has beautiful sun sets.
There is a shop and bar on the camp site which is reasonable and has absolutely everything. You would not need to worry about forgetting something.
The toilets are clean and hygienic. The vibe is summery and people are delightful.
Many places to walk or hike or cycle. I loved the tides too.
The drive to shell island was beautiful too. It's easy to locate. Just be aware of the tide timings

Had a couple of nights camping here as I've not done it for about 30 years, thought I'd try a known entity. The location is fantastic, really good access to beaches and rock pools, extremely helpful staff (particular shout out to Paula in the gate house, who is just an absolute gem) and great facilities. There were no loud parties as they're not allowed, and even during daylight hours everyone seemed respectful of others. Do NOT leave anything lying around in rubbish bags as the birds are absolute bar stewards and will ruin your day if you let them. This is stated in the FAQs too. Remember, normal road rules apply and are enforced, so if you're on a motorcycle and even if you're just moving it around, helmet needs to be worn (sorry Paula!)
Facilities were really well laid out. Breakfast options were plentiful. The camping shop is really handy, especially for hiring ice blocks when it's a heatwave! Plenty of other things there too if needed. Ice packs require a deposit which is refundable and are charged at £1 per use. Take them back and get fresh ones for a quid each. Return at the end of your stay and get your deposit back. Great idea.
The supermarket has a good selection of stock and locally produced items but they are expensive, so be aware. Other retail outlets *may* be available off the island itself.
Would definitely come back. Motorcycle friendly, kid friendly, camper van friendly, what's not to like!
