This was my first visit with a regular visitor and we had a wonderful time. The ice-cream van sold hot drinks, perfect for those determined to paddle in very cold water. One of those magical places you can still drive onto the beach and camp although we limited our experience this time to kite flying. Cheap and cheerful on a lovely windy day.

The beach is absolutely beautiful, Thursday was free however Friday there was a charge to take a vehicle on it. Would highly recommend, particularly outside school seasons. Camp-site was well thought out and clean & tidy. Friendly rangers and very easy access to the beach front. Very good standard of amenities.

What a fab place! We arrived to find our power lead wasn't working, one chat with the manager and she provided a replacement for us to use that night!
The site itself is clean and quiet. It's a 5-minute walk to the beach or a 2-3 min drive to a beach you can park on for £8.
There is a great washing machine and drier (£5 each) right next to the shower block.
There's a butty van run by the site each morning proving bacon/sausage butties, hot drinks and more (bring your own lidded cup as they are no longer providing lids for hot drinks - being more environmentally friendly).
The showers are fabulous, hot, powerful and clean! The only 'issue' we had was that when the toilet/shower block is closed between 12-2 each day for cleaning, you have to use portaloo's which weren't pleasant.
The fire pit is a great addition - easy to hire for the entirety of your stay, with replacement kindling/logs and fire lighters available on site.

Our party had 3 adults and 3 children; no pets. We had two tents and two cars.
All of us would recommend this site. The whole site was clean, infact the toilet block is shut 2 hours daily for cleaning...never seen a toilet block so clean. There were lots of dogs on site, but the majority were kept on leads when moving around. We had a brekkie at the stand every morning, which was value for money. Also tried the pizza, which is good too. Staff were friendly and helpful. The views and the beach are fantastic. It is less than 300 yards to the sea. Dogs are not allowed on certain sections of the beach. We had a great time and hope to revisit next year...if they will have us!

We have just left this lovely camp site! Beautiful location, lovely site with fantastic facilities that are kept clean.
Warden was friendly and gave us all the information we needed.
The beach is a 2 minute walk away and the local shop just 5 minutes up the road.
I really didn't want to leave. Thank you for an amazing few days.

I had a great weekend there is a nice large pitch area. The toilets and showers were clean.
I loved having to view Snowdonia one way and the sea the other way.
The breakfast butty van and pizza van in the evening was nice to have. This saves having to cook.
There is so much to do just on foot walking along the coastal path and evening walks along the beach.

Great campsite to base yourself for a trip in Snowdonia. Everything is within a 1.5hr drive.

Facilities onsite are great and tons of capacity. Staff are friendly and helpful, they also provide a snacl van in the mornings for some rolls and a cuppa.

Its the perfect location right beside the beach and within a 5 minute drive into the town of Porthmadog for any grocieries or food.

Here is my honest review, for those wanting a really well run campsite with excellent facilities 2 minutes walk to a sandy beach, this could be what you are looking for. The toilets/showers/washing area are so clean and there's lots of them. I didn't have to queue or wait to use any of them. There's plenty of sinks to do washing up too. There is a small play area for children. There is also a hot sandwich/butty café van on-site if you don't fancy cooking yourself. It also serves pizzas on some nights.
As some other reviews mentioned this isn't a bargain site, but with the location and facilities I'd say it's reasonable, you get what you pay for. Porthmadog is just down the road a few mins by car great for shopping or get supplies from Tesco's. If I was to say anything negative some of the pitches need a rest for the grass to grow back and because it's so close to the beach, be prepared for it to be windy some of the time. Other than that we had a great time and would definitely go back.

Lovely friendly staff, great flat campsite with clean facilities.

Fully enjoyed our meals from both the lovely lady in the van in the evenings and our bacon butty from the great gentleman in the morning.

Look forward to visiting again soon.

Very nice campsite with great views. Very close to the beach. Just 3 miles from Porthmadog. Emma is very helpful. We stayed in our touring caravan. Due to a health problem we had access to the wet room. Unfortunately there was no hot water in the wash basin taps in the wet room. Shower's electric and nice and warm. I had to shave in the normal shower block. No lights in the shower block at night so I had to shave in the shower block by the light of a head torch. Take a basin plug with you. I always carry one in my wash bag as for some reason people steal the basin plugs in a lot of campsites. People are allowed to take ther vehicles onto the beach. I didn't as I don't know why people would want to get salt on the underside of their vehicles. Salt = corrosion. Nice site. Thankyou.

We came here some time ago and the shop and restaurant/pub that was there has now closed. The site has large pitches with electricity. The best part about this site is its proximity to the beach. Sandy beach, which you can drive on and spend the day.

Gorgeous beach, very spacious and it was great fun driving on the sand!
£5 parking fee (cash only) that is paid on entrance but I did see a few cars park on a nearby road.
Toilets, ice cream van and lots of beach patrol vehicles who were very active.
Water was very clear, we even saw fish!
All in all a beautiful beach and great afternoon!

My family and I love this place being able to drive on to the beach means you can take all your paraphernalia with you and have it to hand. It does get busy in the summer months and there is a charge during the high season of £5 to bring your car on.

There are two areas one which allows dogs and one which doesn’t. It’s that big this doesn’t affect you in any way.

Black Rock is great in all seasons we kayak here in summer, walk the dogs in winter and just come later in the autumn to enjoy the fabulous sunsets and watch the horses early in the morning… truly a beach for all seasons… and one to make memories on x
