This museum was advertised as telling the story of the people of the Epping Forest District, so we did think it might be a bit too much for our two small people - thankfully we didn't need to worry! Yes there is some stories and history of the area, but rather randomly there is other stuff like the current exhibition on mummified animals. For the kids, there are a few activities, and the opportunity to grab a torch and magnifying glass (and an adventure waistcoat) and look round the museum. The museum feels fairly laid back, which again is useful when your brining kids to visit! We all enjoyed the museum and spent more time than we originally expected - extra bonus - it's FREE to enter!

Excellent, I always pop in when a new exhibition is on, there are no public toilets to use if you just want to go to the toilet, but make a donation and you can, this enables the museum to stay open

I came to the Tiger who came to Tea exhibition with an under 2 and a 5 year old. There was lots to entertain them not just in the exhibit but around the rest of the museum. We particularly loved the torches/binoculars for the children to help them investigate artefacts!

Very interesting museum with easy access and a lift. Surprisingly spacious for a town house with multiple sections laid out over a couple of levels.

Epping Forest District Museum is a wonderful place to visit. The museum has a great collection of local history, art and artifacts. The exhibits are presented in a way that makes them easy to understand and appreciate. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and were happy to answer any questions we had. We also enjoyed the interactive displays, which gave us a chance to learn more about the area's history. My kids also enjoyed the special events and activities, which were a great way to spend the day. All in all, we had a great experience visiting the museum and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and educational outing.

Impressive little museum with a surprisingly extensive collection, wide range of material and great interpretations which (grouped by by genre) piece together a fairly detailed history of the area. It also has public toilets, disabled access and lots of kid-friendly activities! I don't know why there isn't more publicity about it because it's worth coming up into the town to visit.

This is a nice little museum with some interesting items, many with links to the local area. The Tudor panels are particularly impressive.
I visited for the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, which was incredible and a huge coup for Epping. I'm glad I took the time to visit the other small exhibitions in the museum while I was there.

Stumbled into this little museum at the weekend and was pleasantly surprised with the interesting layout and quirky artefacts. Learnt a lot about the history of the area and would definitely recommend a visit

I live near this museum and visit several times a year. The staff (who I believe are volunteers) are always friendly and knowledgeable. There is usually an exhibition of local history, people, photographs, events, Police etc upstairs on the top floor.
A good selection of local books and pamphlets on sale.
Admission is free. No one pressures you to 'make a donation ' unlike some other places.
There is a carpark very close, with limited free parking, and reasonable charges if you can't get a free space.

Amazing museum, full of intrigue, very wheelchair friendly, considering it is very old building. lovely garden to sit in. We went and there was an actor who just knocked us of our feet with his story, it was excellent experence.
