Summertown Cycles

Good selection of bikes new and some used. It is twinned with one downtown. They are well stocked with parts and spanners etc. They have a selection of clothing and helmets. I like them, helpful and friendly. For repairs they can be a bit slow but the job is done properly. Plenty of space to park bicycles out front. They deal cube and other brands. Good for e and regular bikes.

I'm doing a complete respray on my mountain bike and I needed to remove some parts that I don't even know the name of (chrome head set thingies?). I took my bike in to Summertown cycles and Brendan took the frame and knocked out the part free of charge there and then.

Absolutely brilliant! Was having gear problems the day before a race. The guys were super friendly and helpful and managed to sort out my gears perfectly on the day! Chuffed.

I took my bike in after a crash and Florian stopped what he was doing, chucked it straight in the stand and straightened the rear hanger in about 2 mins. Really grateful for the kindness to see it wasn’t a big deal and just sort it there and then. Much appreciated. 🙏🏻

Wanted a mountainbike within a specific budget range. These guys had helpful advice on what was in the shop or what could be ordered in for me to try, and helped me make a choice I’m really happy with. They also replaced a part in order to make the bike a better fit for my height. Thanks! ☺👍

One of the best bike shop in Oxford or anywhere else for the simple reason they have the best staff by a million miles/km. Totally on the front foot they approach you rather than ignore you when you enter and then genuinely engage and listen to you. They know what they are talking about and make recommendations without making you feel like a fool for not pumping up your tyres (who knew?) or baffling you with techno talk about eg teflon hybrid anti-lock mark 1:3 sprockets blah blah. And they are quick. ‘Come back in 20 mins / go and have a coffee and I will text you when it’s ready’, compared to a bored flick through a tattered ledger and ‘come back in week’. I don't understand some of the more negative reviews I have read but it is worth noting that the place is under relatively new ownership and has had a complete refit and a few staff changes so they may reflect its former self.

Excellent service on a full rebuild of my road bike. Friendly, experienced and efficient. Very happy with the final result and given a reasonable cost. Also good at updating me on the progress.

These guys are great. I've been taking my bikes there for years for maintenance etc. Always very good work, and friendly service. If ever parts are defective (has only happened once to me), they stand by their products and replace for free. This is business where customer satisfaction clearly matters, and they get it right.

Was having an issue with my chain and brought my bike in for repair. Really lovely guy (I wish I had remembered to ask for his name!) fixed it within 20 minutes and even noticed some other issues that he offered to fix as well. Great shop with knowledgeable and helpful employees. Would definitely recommend if you're looking to buy a new bike or need a tune-up. Cheers!

I took my bike into the shop the other day looking for some advice on fixing my brakes. They offer appointments for a mechanic to carry out repairs but I'm very dependent on my bike and needed it the next day so wanted to fix it as soon as possible. I bought the parts I needed, which were sold at a reasonable price and worked on it myself. I had a lot of help from one of the kind staff members who was there who adjusted the brakes for me once I'd changed the cables and gave it a thorough check over. I would highly recommend this shop if you need anything at all - they go above and beyond to help you where they can, they are knowledgable so can give you advice, it is well-stocked for both parts and fully-working bikes, and they want to give you the best service possible for a good price.

Summertown Cycles have been really helpful to me on multiple occasions with a variety of problems. They are equally happy to assist whether buying new gear or advising on parts and repairing something yourself. I recently had a problem with some bike luggage bought through them, and was really impressed with Brendan who dealt with a complicated return and got me a refund. I'm happy to recommend them to anyone.
