Visited this pub for first time the other day, excellent pint of carling, did'nt have any food, but john & sam are great hosts, can' wait to go again. Also excellent price.

Brilliant service! Great atmosphere! Especially in the Beer Garden! I haven't visited the Bear for 'donkey's years' but I was rather surprised! At first, it felt like I had just walked into a Working Men's Club! The bartender was absolutely friendly and served me without a flinch! You see...I'm an INDIAN ordering a PINT followed by another! Now that's a rarity!
We just stayed for drinks before a meal 😊

Always a great meal and dessert here. Burgers are the best. Wait time for food is minimal. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
May 2018. Just had our last meal there. It was as good as ever. Will miss this place. No more bear grill after the this Saturday.

The food is amazing here. But they change the menu regularly and I can't get the most amazing vegetarian burger ever again here! ;) (with beetroot relish and grilled goats cheese). The staff is friendly and attentive but not overbearing. Casual atmosphere with a class :)

Outstanding food, really know how to cook a steak and burger.

Very well priced for the quality of food they offer, service fast, friendly and efficient.

Clean and tidy inside, nicely furnished.

It's a relatively small restaurant that seems to peak about 7-8 pm on a Saturday, advise booking a couple of days in advance if you want a table as it's usually rammed.

We'll definitely be going back.

Great burgers at such a low price, especially on Thursdays with free XL upgrades.

Dont be taken from the look of this pub come bar restaurant from the front street, as it appears very small however it has an upper level with lots of seating and they are now serving food, also have a pool table to the side of the seating areas.
Food is good and reasonably priced.
Breakfast seems to be served all day and can be bought in various portions, tremendous value, it's a must try

Cheaper than spoons on week nights not visited on weekends

I have eaten here twice since it’s reopened with the new menu and I cannot fault the food at all. As I couldn’t decide on what starter I liked I had 3 starters for £10 and all of it was amazing! I then also tried a burger with bacon & cheese and had a dessert which was a terrys chocolate orange brownie and it was all to die for!! I have booked to eat there on Valentine’s Day and I am very excited with the menu!
The Food was amazing and all the staff are so friendly and more than willing to go above and beyond for you!!

The freakshakes are amazing. I had way too much food and the staff were kind enough to put it in containers for me to take home. The selection was great and there's plenty of choice for vegetarians too. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious, quickly served and a good price. Will definitely return

Nice cozy pub with great food and fast service

Had two really great meals here. Huge portions, good steak and amazing sweet potato fries. Never managed dessert! Kids love the place too.

Brilliant night lovely boss lady

Nicely refurbished, entertainment is always great, very cheap beer! What's not to like? This place has been turned around and is now very popular and for a reason.

Had a fantastic evening here for my son in laws 40th Birthday. The service was amazing., Jack was very polite and very good,the service spot on. The food delicious, steak for two of us burger and foot long hot dog for the other two. Sweet potato fries were yummy.Pudding for my son in law was throughly enjoyed.
All in all great, first visit will be back again .

Excellent food and staff friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed our meal. Would definitely come again. Burger was amazing and chips were also amazing and fresh as well.

Very nice burgers, nothing overly fancy but a pleasant enough location to make it stand out from other burger joints. Well located on the town high street, I recommend the Mexican chicken burger or if you are feeling less adventurous the fish finger sandwich.
