Gonville Hotel

We had a wonderful stay at the Gonville. The Superior Deluxe room was amazing with so much space and it makes you feel special and pampered. There is even a pillow menu to ensure you have the right pillow for you. To cooked breakfasts are amazing, with a great selection on the breakfast buffet to go with it. The Bentley tour was a fascinating and enjoyable experience. The food in the restaurant is good, but you can get better for a similar price round the corner at The Oak Bistro if you can get a table there.

The staff were absolutely lovely and accommodating. In particular Reuben at Reception was informative, polite, and helpful throughout check-in and check-out. It was a pleasant surprise to see our bed decorated and a card and chocolates to celebrate our engagement! The only slight feedback was that there were no bedside 3-pin charger plugs. Thank you to the Gonville for making our Cambridge stay a great one.

Perfectly located close to the centre of town and opposite Parkers Piece. Our room on the first floor had a Juliet balcony looking out over Parkers Piece. The room was immaculate and beautifully decorated. Toiletries in the bathroom were very nice, bathroom was fine, if a little tight for space.

What a great hotel, staff very helpful and friendly. Slept like a log on both nights we were there. Plenty to eat at breakfast. Parking was a bit odd, although I booked in the car, didn't get an allocated parking space, but managed on all occasions to get a parking space. I thinks the gods were looking after me, I managed to get, what seemed to be, the last car space. Only the disabled parking spaces, were allocated to individuals. I would certainly recommend this hotel to people and use it again.

I can honestly say that this is the best all round hotel experience I've ever had. My wife and I have stated here twice now and will always stay here when we visit Cambridge.

Enjoyed our 1-night stay here en route from London to Norfolk. Decent rooms and ours had a great view over Parkers Piece. A short walk to the hustle and bustle of central Cambridge. Didn't have dinner or breakfast so can't comment on the food. Very helpful service at reception.

My wife and I stayed here for one night over a weekend and we had a fantastic time. The location is superb, with only a short walk into town with local bars and restaurants aplenty. The room we stayed in was clean and spacious. The staff are friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

We were there for a NYE meal coupled with live jazz music and we loved it. The food was delicious, the staff were very polite and pleasant, and the decor and atmosphere contributed to the experience. I always liked their decor over Christmas, they do such s good job and makes the hotel look so pretty. All the food we had was delicious!! The music was nice without being too loud and you could easily carry out a conversation even though the place was full. It was nice without being overly formal. There was a short delay at the end of the night in getting coffee but I didn’t really care. They still offered us a 10% discount which was very generous and appreciated but not necessary as we enjoyed ourselves. Last year we were at the Graduate hotel which way more expensive and not as a great experience as the Gonville. We enjoyed this much more! Highly recommended!

The afternoon tea at the Gonville is absolutely delicious! My friends and I were delighted with the perfect scones and delicate cakes. There was an oyster starter ( a real surprise?) Followed by scrumptious little sandwiches. I came with three friends - one of whom was slightly disabled- and we were all impressed with the efforts of the staff to make us feel welcome and arrange comfortable seating. Cameron and Conal were particularly helpful and relocated us to another table near the Bar while we waited for transport home. They even have us a final complementary cup of tea while we waited! I cannot recommend Afternoon Tea at the Gonville more highly.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Gonville! We were so happy that the room was ready on our arrival early in the afternoon, so we could get settled in before exploring Cambridge. The hotel staff are very welcoming and friendly! We chose this hotel for its location in the city centre and it's dog friendliness, and it was above and beyond what we expected! Our room was spacious and incredibly comfortable, and the staff had left a dog bowl and some food for our dog, which was a nice touch. We wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the 'pillow menu' and test out a few options :) Beyond the lovely and attentive staff, the highlight of our stay was the complementary Bentley experience - where our chauffeur Zayn drove us in a vintage 1950s Bentley out to the surrounding countryside villages. What an incredible experience! We will definitely be back in future, and in the meantime will recommend the Gonville hotel to all of our friends and family.

Quaint little place in the heart of Cambridge, walking distance to most popular colleges and train station. Friendly staff, 10/10 service.

What a wonderful experience friendly staff made to feel really welcome room was absolutely fabulous bed was huge and oh so comfortable just a one night stop over for us food was delicious to will defiantly be returning.

I booked for my parents to celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary. I chose the Gonville because the staff are well-trained and I knew they would receive excellent service. They had an absolutely wonderful stay and I would like to thank the whole team for making their stay so special.

I have visited the Gonville twice, staying in the main building on the first occasion and in Gresham House on the second. Both stays were wonderful but the most recent stay was made all the more special by the room grade. The decor would be best described as classic modern. The soft furnishings were good. The cosmetics were all from the Penhaligon’s Halfeti range. There was a semi free standing bath with a separate large shower cubicle. There was complimentary water in the mini fridge but no minibar, which was a shame. There was a turndown service with Lindor chocolates. The evening menu was good, the ambience pleasant and the breakfast plentiful.

Probably one of the finest hotels to stay at Cambridge. The room was spacious, bed was comfortable, pillows were great and the shower was fantastic. The breakfast, you can choose from the menu, was delicious.

We went on a Bentley tour with Zane and he was outstanding - we really enjoyed the interesting facts about our city and learnt loads. The Bentley, 71 years old and going strong, was a great ride and Zane is a cool calm funny and careful driver - very highly recommended

Very friendly and helpful staff. Particularly supportive about parking with a disabled badge and ordering taxis to cope with all the traffic restrictions in the city centre. Comfortable bed and good breakfast options, although had to wait quite a while for a table on a busy Sunday morning. Excellent room service as it was buzzing downstairs on a crowded Saturday evening, after we’d had a large lunch party in a college. Loved all the lights outside in the evening. Not so much a fan of the velvety and flowery decor in room 217 but plenty of seating and a good modern bathroom. This superior room was spacious, quiet on the second floor and near the lift. Heating worked well although we suggested that they could make the controls a lot easier to work out.

Had a great time staying in this hotel with my wife and friends. Rooms were lovely as were staff. Bar was good fun with nice atmosphere. Location very convenient Would definitely stay here again.

We had the most wonderful time here today when my friend treated me to an afternoon tea for my birthday.

The team went over and above what was expected. They were totally professional, yet friendly.

The hotel is beautifully decorated and immaculately clean.

The afternoon tea was delicious, great food choice, good quality ingredients and so well cooked and presented.

We had a really lovely stay at the Gonville this weekend, everything was just great. Our room was lovely, spotless and very quirky. We loved the bed and the pillow menu. We ate in the bar the first evening and the food was delicious, highly recommend the burger! The second evening we ate in the restaurant and we were blown away by the food! It was just delicious. Best part of the stay was the staff- everyone from reception, breakfast, bar, restaurant, housekeeping were just so cheerful and happy to help at all times, it really made our weekend. Big shout out to Zane and giving us a tour of Grantchester in the 1951 Bentley! What an amazing experience! Thank you everyone!
