Fantastic service! Knowledgeable, friendly and with literally decades of experience as a keen cyclist and mechanic.

Went in for a suspected bottom bracket fixture, but he was honest - said it wasn't the issue and just tightened the pedals to stop that annoying clicking! Really appreciated not having to shell out on something not needed. :)
He also replaced two worn brake pads, the gear cables and a broken reflector. Quick turnaround, no fuss and reasonably priced.

Definitely would recommend Chris, certainly above the bigger stores - too many times I've had so-called mechanics fitting tyres the wrong way round.

I think he's also the only UK seller of the renowned VSF range (my bike is the T-700). Lots of interesting old vehicles in his store, including vintage Sunbeams that he's doing up.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend! Chris is a great man and provides a reliable, efficient and affordable service. I am someone who would go out of my way to buy parts and spend time doing my own repairs but since discovering this bike shop I haven't needed to - have been back 3 times now and pleased every time. It's been refreshing, not needing to worry!

Friendly shop, sane, easy-going atmosphere , sensible owner and great service. Chris did an excellent job of reviving my weary, shamefully neglected, Evans' Pinnacle. I'd been quoted twice as much at another place but got the same work done here for a very reasonable rate. Oh and Chris also confirms my belief that all good bike guys answer to a one syllable name. I've had various bikes worked on by Jim in Vancouver, Bob in Whitefish, Montana and Dan in Lewes, it seems to be a bit of a rule!

Went for a flat tube repair. Chris did a work in 10 minutes and we had a good talk after. I live in this city more than 8 years and I don't know how did I missed his shop. Excellent customer service, unbeatable prices and he just got a new customer. He is my first new best bike repair man!

My new favourite local bike shop; I'll be back for all my repair/maintenance needs. Chris had no qualms taking in my esoteric belt-driven eBike for a spoke repair which ended up taking most of his afternoon. Returned a few hours later and the now repaired bike was returned to me with a smile and kind words. Absolutely recommend.

Bike has cantilever brakes which are a bit annoying so decided to take to Chris. Went on a Saturday afternoon to get an estimate of what work needed doing with the idea of bringing it back in the week as I need it the next day. However Chris was happy to give it a go that afternoon (new chain, block, brake cable, blocks and cantilever adjustment so a decent sized job). Returned 3 hours later and he was done, at a reasonable price and with friendly service. My decades old bike feels like new!

I took my single speed to Chris' Bikes for maintenance. The chain was a bit slack and needed oiling, the brakes were a bit loose, and the pedals occasionally locked up.

Chris did an excellent job tuning up the bike and it now rides like a dream. I would even say better than the first time I rode it. The price was very reasonable and the service was fast.

I had a problem with my brakes grinding on my bike while I was riding it, and then squeaking when I braked. Having had such a good experience at Chris's Bikes previously I went back to see him. He sorted it all out for me in no time and made me feel welcome with his easy pleasant manner. So much nicer going to an independent trader rather than a chain.

A brilliant find. Chris's Bikes is an independently owned shop and the place to go if you want to find someone who is knowledgeable about the products they sell. His shop is like Aladdin's Cave - he not only sells and repairs bikes, but all the kit you could want to go with it! A really friendly and helpful experience.

When I went to Chris's bike shop, I thought I had done my research about the bike I wanted. Interestingly with the big bike shops they only tell you about the limited range they have available to them and there is so much more out there.
I went to Chris and he immediately took me out of my comfort zone (don't worry, he is really friendly!). The bike cost a fraction more than I had anticipated, but because it was so well equipped I got so much more for my money. My bike is German made (engineered!). I haven't enjoyed riding a bike so much since my first adult bike (aged 8) it is beautifully balanced. I got dynamo hub lights, better gears and seat, a stand and a great quality cycle rack. I instantly saved more than my money back on the lights because they came as standard rather than buying separately.
If you want a bike from someone who knows about and loves bikes - this is the place to go. You will get great value for your money and straight talking advice.

Excellent service. My bike required new brakes and chain/rear block, I had previously taken it to another shop who had taken a long time to provide an excessively high quote. Visited Chris one lunchtime, unannounced, the work was completed for a very reasonable price to a high standard that afternoon. A fantastic bike shop.

Great independent bike shop - Chris is very friendly and knowledgeable unlike many chain stores. Service is excellent and he went over and above the call of duty when I picked up my bike late on a Wednesday evening, keeping the shop open so that he could patiently explain everything about the new bike. He has a full range of bikes and he will tell you exactly which is best for you - not just trying to make the most $$.

Overall a fantastic 'local bike shop' !

Excellent, as always. I can't recommend this shop highly enough. Chris knows everything about bikes, nothing is too much trouble and it is always a pleasure to see him. I would never go to any other bike shop. Thanks for sorting us out again today, Chris.

I walked into Chris's shop on a lazy Saturday afternoon having not ridden a bike for around 3 years. After spending my youth as a member of a cycling club, 20 years later I realised that my knowledge of cycling was very small - what bike do I require? I really hadn't done my homework as my resultant meandering monologue proved! Never-the-less, Chris was happy to listen and, through enjoyable conversation and well-chosen questioning, paired me up with some bikes in the Giant range that suited my (all too vague) requirements and my price bracket too. I thoroughly enjoyed my ¾hr with Chris talking about cycling, house renovations and the ever increasing problem of dwindling spare time and left to consider my options with considerably more focus than with which I had arrived!

On the following Monday after some proper research on the back of Chris's advice, I called him again and he was able to offer me a respectable incentive to buy from him, which was much appreciated. I placed my order for a Giant Roam 2 Cross bike which I collected on the following Saturday. Chris had set the bike up perfectly for me and that afternoon it carried me along a hilly section of the North Norfolk Coastal Path and up Sheringham Hill, which to my delight was completed in one attempt with no stopping!! It's official. I now have the bug again!

Despite my glowing review I do have to challenge Chris on one point though; he will tell you he's a terrible salesman but I have to disagree. He is the best kind. In a world of high pressure sales and spam emails, his laid back, no-pressure 'tell it how it is' approach coupled with his experience and knowledge is a breath of fresh air, which is why I of course thoroughly recommend him.

So, get yourself over to Chris's shop and give your money to a small business that will appreciate it 10 times more than the chain store's corporate accountant and in doing so you will receive 10 times more service and value for money.

After being recommended by a friend, I took my 1959 5 speed Claud Butler road bike to Chris's Bikes and while Chris did not have the part required he was able to source, repair and return the bike within a week, doing me a great deal on a new Brooks B17 too.

Based on my experience, when I wanted a modern road bike for some up coming Sportives I went back to Chris for a Giant Defy. Unsure of which model to buy I tried the Defy 4 and Defy 3. Chris evaluated my needs and said the 4 would be fine for my requirements but I bought the more expensive 3 because I did not want the Shimano hoods with the buttons. There was no pressure to spend more money, rather it was all about what I needed. The price was better than I had found on line, he gave me some excellent advice and a good price on some SPD pedals and spent a great deal of time making sure I was happy. He also gave me some basic maintenance advice so that I would not have to return to the shop for every small problem.

After 6 weeks riding Chris looked my bike over and made some small adjustments for the usual new bike cable stretch. I used the bike this weekend for the London Nightrider and it did not miss a beat. I could not be more pleased.

Overall, I have found Chris over my four visits to be extremely helpful and knowledgeable, not just about selling bikes, but also cycling in general. He won't try to sell you something you don't need.

The best endorsement for me is whenever I have been there, there seems to be a great deal of repeat customers coming in for odds and ends for cycling who all seem to know Chris by name and vice versa. There is always plenty of cycle chat too to enjoy!

I called into Chris's Bikes twice today with punctures due to a worn bead on my tyre, both times the service I received was top notch. Chris's Bikes is run by the eponymous Chris, a good guy who runs an Aladdins cave of a shop. If you are in the area and want good products and good service at a fair price then you need look no further. Highly recommended!

I take all of our family's bikes to Chris for repair, and have just collected my son's.
A great job, as before, and reasonably priced.
Also, he has remained positive and chirpy during the great lockdown scam, which has helped keep me sane.

An excellent bike shop, Chris's Bikes should be the first place you go when buying a bike in and around Cambridge. Great advice when buying and the prices are unbeatable even on the Internet. If you don't see what you want on the shop's web site it's worth dropping Chris an email as he could probably source it for you. Prices on clothing and accessories are also very competitive

I highly recommend Chris for straightforward no nonsense advice about bikes. He always answered emails promptly and gave clear answers to my questions. The VSF Fahrradmanufaktur range that he sells are fantastic bikes and excellent value. We toured from San Sebastian to Barcelona on two TX-400s purchased from Chris and had a fantastic trip with no problems whatsoever. The bikes are brilliant.

New to Cambridge and looking for cycle help I came across Chris's bikes. I was given immediate attention, friendly service, prices are very reasonable and only work that was necessary was done to restore a neglected bike to full working order. Fully recommend.
