Great location, fantastic room and lovely people.
Could not recommend stayin at The Hope Anchor enough, it is great.
Even what could be seen as an inconvenience is the parking, you will need to drop bags and park about 10 minutes walk away (or bring your car up after 6:00) was great walking through the gorgeous town to get back to the hotel.
And the best breakfast we have had in the UK!

Chris runs a lovely pub (we’ve not stayed as hotel guests but I imagine it’d be just as awesome.)

Malcom is a total legend - funny, sharp, polite and runs a tight ship behind the bar (he also looks like Harry Grout from Porridge but isn’t menacing at all.)

The view over the harbour is beautiful. It’s a good walk up to along a cobbled street (not a complaint just a consideration for those who need help with mobility)

We visited March ‘22, June ‘22 and over Christmas ‘23. It was such a lovely, snuggly atmosphere.

The prices are very fair, especially considering many places in Rye seem to price as though they’re in London!

Can’t recommend this place enough! Thank you for helping us make wonderful memories. We hope to see you again soon 🫶❤❤ xx

Clean rooms, lovely staff, nice breakfast. Everything in town within 5 mins walk. No parking available but there is a car park about 10 min walk away which is £2.50 for 24 hours

The best service and comfortable accommodation! We received a friendly welcome, room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was tremendous. There is a bar which is really quaint and some amazing views over Rye.

Comfortable, clean room with a good view from the hotel's elevated position. A steep climb to get to the hotel if you have poor mobility. Large breakfast that is well organised. Friendly helpful staff.

Nice little hotel right on the edge of town a few minutes walk from the high street. Staff were so welcoming and really lovely. Nice breakfast, clean room, warm and quiet. No parking but we used the nearest public car park a few minutes walk away which (Strand) £7 for the whole day, free after 7pm until 8am. Cosy lounge and small bar on site.

Situated at one of the highest points in Rye it has views of the surrounding area including the old town and local countryside, each room offers something a little different. Very happy and friendly staff and the place was spotless. If you are looking for great value stay check it out.

What amazing views from every room the skyline is ever changing. Well worth a visit if you're in the area

Everything about this hotel was perfect! The room we stayed in room 24 overlooking the river which was airy, spotlessly clean and most of all, comfortable. Coffee/tea and fresh water available plus iron and board, power shower and a stand alone fan. Tastefully decorated room which fitted in well with the hotel decor. Breakfast had a huge choice, perfectly cooked and plenty of it - served with a smile. Location was perfect as was all staff. Could not fault this hotel at all. Thank you The Hope Anchor.

Very nice hotel! Views across the fields and Quay are spectacular. Rooms are smartly furnished with a large en-suite. Got a comfortable bed and a tea/coffee station in the room, it's perfect. The girls on Reception were informative and friendly and then ordering our breakfast for today was easy enough to do - both a hot cooked breakfast and cereal/pastries available. The staff made us feel welcome when we arrived which was really nice.
Restaurant not open for lunch/dinner at the minute but didn't deter us as plenty to offer in the town.
Would definitely recommend to stay here. The location to the town is ideal, with the cobbled streets and old buildings close by.

While the hotel does not have parking (you'll have to fend for yourself with public parking, and make sure you pay using RingGo or Rye will happily ticket you), its location at the top of Mermaid Street gives it excellent views of the picaresque town, and just a few minutes walk to the cobbled lanes and The Mermaid Inn and St Mary's Church. Excellent breakfast room and has cozy lounge and bar as well.

Great value hotel in a wonderful position - close to the town with great views towards Winchelsea and the coast .The decor is a little tired, but the breakfast was delicious, the shower was powerful and the whole package was excellent value for money.

My wife and I overnighted in the superb Hope and Anchor Hotel, I thoroughly recommend this to anyone.
A fantastic location, lovely views, polite attentive staff. Warm quiet and clean cosy room with Four posted bed; great bathroom spacing and in the morning one of the best breakfasts we’ve ever had when away (and it was included with the stay which we found was a generous bonus).

I made a special request via email for flowers and chocolates on arrival and I’ve please to say this was graciously carried out, my wife was surprised; I was pleased, we both very much content in our comfortable stay. The receptionist was kind; smiley and a joy for us to both deal with.

I really can’t say more than if you’re in Rye, want a professional and cared for stay; book the Hope and Anchor for it!
