Always fantastic service from every team member there. They have fantastic recommendations for all genres I've asked for and if they don't know they find another colleague that may be better suited. A beautiful experience for sharing books and having a chat about the latest read. store is very clean and organised, always keeping up to date with new releases and books of interest. Cafe is great, good food and variety with comfortable seating and very quiet if you want a solitary read out of the house.

I haven't been to this one for years and it has improved. Good selection of books, nice staff, spacey upstairs although I did think the old Costa had a coziness about it. Cafe W has good selections of tea and cake and I do think it has a more modern feel to it.

I do miss the Portsmouth Waterstones. It's not big but it feels bigger.

Lovely shop, just to wander around, pick up the latest books by your favourite authors. Then upstairs for a nice frothy coffee and toasted sandwich or scone or ...... Could go on forever.

Great shop, nice open space, yet full tables of display books, the cafe upstairs is nice too. All round one of the better waterstones I've been to.

A large Waterstones, on two floors, in the centre of Portsmouth. There is an escalator up and stairs down - but there is also a lift. Upstairs there is a large cafe ( with a toilet) and more books. There are lots of children's books and gifts.

I couldn't see on display the book I wanted bit when I asked they took me what shelf they're at. Quite a wide selection of books. The atmosphere was very good.

I really like this store. They have a really good variety of stock, over 2 floors in a large space. They also have board games and gifts and other bits and pieces. It's well organised, well signposted and they always make an effort with their displays.
My two favourite things about the store are the staff, who are always friendly, warm and ever so helpful, and the cafe upstairs. I was in the store before Christmas and a member of staff was taking time to help an older lady track down a book. It was a busy time and the staff member was calm and took her time with her. It's so great to witness such good customer service at a busy time of year in a high street store.
The cafe upstairs has a small selection of cakes and drinks, but it is a little piece of heaven in an otherwise dingey part of Portsmouth. There's plenty of space to sit and the food and drinks are always good and the staff are quick to serve you and are chatty and friendly. I will always happily find an excuse to go and buy a book and sit there with a pot of tea.
It's a shame the lift is currently broken, as it means the upstairs of the shop and cafe is not currently accessible, so I hope its fixed soon!

A huge selection of books that are well laid out. Friendly and helpful staff. The cafe upstairs is perfect for sitting in while drinking and eating quality snacks and drinks whist reading your newly purchased book. I would highly recommend spending an afternoon upstairs and downstairs.

It's a fantastic book shop. You'll find whatever you're looking for cheaper on Amazon, but it's a great place to hang out. There's a decent cafe upstairs and a library / Starbucks vibe. Their non-fiction section is massive, and so is their Sci fi fantasy section on the ground floor. There's plenty for kids, too. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable.

Great, good quality books 👍 Though I didn't really like it when the elevator suddenly stopped. Employees were really helpful and talked me through the books I might like based on the ones I had read

I attended a book signing at this store. It was very well organized, and the staff were very kind and helpful.

The staff are always very helpful and friendly and have a genuine passion for books. The store is exceedingly roomy so plenty of room to navigate. The cafe upstairs is well used and a good way to while away the time. I always use it as my go to place to order in new books. The store is lively but I never feel clustered or busy. The manga section is also really amazing.

Easily now the best shop in Portsmouth. The bookshop is great, and the cafe is excellent. It's like an oasis of calm, a great shopping experience in what is otherwise a fairly dull part of Portsmouth.
