Nan's Café Bar

We usually find the best cafe on the last day of our stay on short breaks, this time we found it first day; only to find they closed that day before I was going to be hungry again, with worse to come. We went Sunday morning and they don't open Monday or Tuesday; you guessed it, we went home Tuesday!
They had such a magnificent array of home made cake, I had my heart set on sampling at least one later that day, only to be crushed by opening hours.
However, that did not detract from the great full English, very tasty, sausage, bacon and black pud; not overly greasy but it wouldn't take much more to reach that point, but you can't have a fry up without it being fried in something. Even better, they serve whole tinned plum tomatoes with their breakfasts; I can't be doing with 'grilled tomatoes that are nearer raw than grilled and tinned tomato tastes of my childhood and youth.
But the most striking thing about the place was the happy, chatty banter staff had with local and visiting customers; very welcoming. 'Dog friendly' was the criteria put in our Google search; so friendly I was worried Bob (the dog) was going to be kidnapped. He was greeted with gravy bones, paid lots of attention, and fussed before every hand wash.
If we're ever in the area again, I have some unfinished business with some home made cakes

Great little place, with brilliant staff and a friendly local atmosphere. The English breakfast was fantastic. Not to much, but we'll cooked. I keep come back here time and time again. I am now considered a regular. The staff now my order before i do.

What a find! Stopped here for breakfast. Only a small establishment but very popular 👌 The food is freshly made and enjoyable.
It's dog friendly, which is a massive plus for me. You can sit outside slightly behind/to the side of the building such that you don't feel as if you're sitting on the pavement. A definite place for me to return to with or without my four legged friends.

Wonderful little café-bar in the heart of Shifnal. Only popped into Nan’s on the off chance but I’m very glad I did, found a gem of a place. Only had time for a tea and a cake, I’ll definitely be back to sample more of the menu and I’ll have to learn the recipe and method for their amazing Victoria sponge cake.

First time visiting, dogs allowed, which was perfect 👌 breakfast sandwich was amazing, bacon, egg, blackpudding 😋 even a plate of chicken fillet nibbles for the dogs, pot of tea, definitely worth a visit. Staff very friendly and welcoming 😊

It's not the first time I've visited. it's always very clean. The staff are very welcoming with nothing being too much trouble. The food is cooked fresh to order and is served hot, and the breakfast options are varied from full English to a proper healthy option if you prefer. If you're looking for a lunch or just a piece of cake and a cup of tea again, a decent selection is available. All prices are very resonable and won't break the bank. If you're in the vicinity and looking for something to eat or drink, I doubt you'll be disappointed and supportive of a local business. One note of caution is that it does get very busy at times, but that just proves its popularity. Well worth the visit and do recommend.

Nan's Cafe Bar is a cosy Cafe with a good range of dishes including some lovely omelette choices. Home made milk shakes are available along with tea and coffee. The staff are efficient and the place is well supported by local people. On appropriate days tables and chairs are available for eating and drinking outside on the pavement, often on a Sunday morning Cycling Clubs congregate at Nan's for a break on their rides. Nan's provides a real focal point in Shifnal.

An absolutely fantastic place to have a breakfast, a quick sandwich or a lovely lunch. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and having been here around 10-15 times now I can happily say the cafe is faultless.

We popped in for brunch. My husband had a full English and I had the vegetarian breakfast with pots of tea. It was delicious and the staff were friendly with a cosy atmosphere in the cafe. We took 2 slices of cake away to have in the afternoon . Very nice

Couldn't want for a better cafe, service is spot on, always find room for you and go the extra mile even if you order food not listed on the menu. the cakes are excelent as well.

Lovely little cafe. Very friendly staff, well priced and cakes to die for, especially the Victoria sponge and toffee cake. We'll worth a stop off.

Our second visit, while visiting family , there was 4 of us, just as good as the first, the avocado smash is superb as is the breakfast and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, oh and their mince pies are gorgeous too!

Great place, lovely staff, we were made to feel very welcome. Hamish, our 8 month old pup, was spoilt rotten with water, doggy treats and doggy Ice cream. We had lovely food too. Highly recommended will visit again

Lovely place. We sat outside with our dog, and the dog was offered water and gravy bones. As new dog owners on our first holiday with a dog, this was so lovely. The humans had a lovely breakfast too. Look forward to returning one day

Nan’s has now reopened, with a new look but the same great food.
Nan’s is also participating in the ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme so Monday to Wednesday it is even better value.
Tables are socially distanced, everything is lovely and clean, everyone uses hand sanitiser on entry and I felt very safe eating there in these difficult times.
I had the Skinny Breakfast and it was lovely - Bacon, mushrooms, baked beans, poached egg, fresh tomato and wholemeal toast.
Now this will seem at odds with my Skinny Breakfast, but it was a celebration of meeting up with dear friends who I hadn’t seen for a long time, I also had their new Mini-Doughnut Ice Cream Sundae - which was out of this world. Apologies for not taking a photo, I had to just tuck in.
Go on, spoil yourself with a visit to Nan’s Cafe Cafe, know it makes sense 😊
