The Works

Good selection of books, especially the sale area and staff handled my service dog amazingly. We often don’t receive appropriate treatment but the staff today were amazing, commenting politely on his appearance and his job. Always pleasantly surprised when I shop here.

Excellent shop, wide range of activity books for kids, reasonable prices as well.

Absolutely love The Works, however the manager, Denise, is absolutely horrible, my friends and I were in the shop yesterday looking around and we got kicked out, by the her because apparently we were being loud and loitering, we were not being loud at all, we were quietly talking amongst ourselves while looking around. As well as this I went into the shop again today, accompanied by an adult, and the adult who was with me was made to wait outside. When I went to pay, she served me and had an extremely passive aggressive conversation with me about how "it is unfair on her other customers that we are in there being loud, and that the only way we are allowed in there is one at a time." She also claimed that she has had complaints from said other customers about us being loud, though I don't think this is true as we are not loud when we are in there.

Great selection of books and games, sadly, let down by rude staff. The manager is rude and seems to dislike the presence of customers, as it interrupts her screen time.
