The Birdcage

We took our teenage Son here who happens to be autistic. They were very clued up on autism and even offered to turn the music down. They allowed him to bring his little dog in with him and even gave his support dog some water. The food and service could not be faulted and the owner/manager even showed me around and told me some of the history of the building. I could not fault them. The best service and food at reasonable prices.

Fantastic food, great restaurant, funky decor and very friendly servers. Just remember to book in advance as it's so popular you're unlikely to get a table just by walking in!

The atmosphere and the staff are great in this place. The food is okay, it just needs a bit of tweaking to make the whole experience fantastic. Such as using meatballs which aren’t super processed tasting or swapping out raw onions in a salad to something like avocado or mozzarella.

I really like how each menu item is named after a local place or thing to do with Malmesbury.

Stopped for a quick lunch and enjoyed a lovely shared pizza with great wine & coffee. The waitress was delightful and really friendly. A superb place to eat for lunch & dinner as well decorated with cosy romantic booths on the lower floor.

We didn't want a big meal and just decided to share a starter and then share the Christmas Dinner pizza. Both were superb and the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff were top notch

I have been to The Bird Cage lots of times when staying in Malmesbury with work and it never fails to meet / exceed expectations. Me and my colleagues agree that this is the best pizza ever. Strong opinion I know, but wow it is so good. The cozy atmosphere and the friendly staff make the experience that extra special. I am personally also a fan of the flying monk brewery and their beer is a great compliment to the pizza. Amazing!

Great place and food. We had an emergency and a lovely lady there dealt with it very professionally and called an ambulance. Also super important for me, the toilets are spotless!! Thank you

A fantastic selection of well-made pizzas - very generous on the toppings - served in a rustic-style pizzeria. There's also a decent drinks menu, including a range of gins and local beers.

We absolutely loved our experience at the Bird Cage! The staff were amazing; Joe and Lilen were incredibly friendly and helpful. And the food was PERFECTION! Each member of our group (4 adults total) rated our meal 5 stars. Definitely go if you’re in the area! (And if you aren't sure what to choose, get what Joe recommends. We loved everything suggested!)

There are so many pizza places around these days that it must be hard to stand out, but The Birdcage have absolutely got it right. From the rustic Italian style decor to the friendly and efficient staff, you feel welcome as soon as you walk in. The pizzas - of which there is a large selection - are excellent, with something for everyone, vegans, vegetarians and people who want gluten free, included. They have everything from the usual pepperoni through to more unusual combinations of falafel and everything in between. They have other items on the menu, including pasta and very nice Stromboli pizza rolls. They also sell cocktails, mixed drinks and the very nice local "Flying Monk" beers, all in an informal atmosphere (with great music). It's not the first time I've been there and I will be back - recommended.

Came here for a colleagues leaving lunch and I loved the place. Food was great. Service was just right between attentive and not overbearing, and the place feels like a little hub of meeting place and conversation.

Great service with friendly staff. I am not a fan of pizza from chain restaurants, so avoid them.
This lovely restaurant serves excellent pizza on a proper thin based and cooked very well. They offer a 9 inch or 12 inch, which is good if you don't want a huge pizza. I can recommend the sundae desert, which is very naughty but a nice treat.
The big thing for us is they allowed our dog into the restaurant. We also witnessed the staff being very helpful to other tourists. Overall, a lovely place to eat.

Recently visited with my Mum for a coffee. First time visiting and my goodness what a lovely place to sit, relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Coffee was great tasting and they accommodated with oat milk. Thank you for making us feel welcome. Next time I’m coming back for pizza! They looked lush.

A gem for this part of the world, so glad it has endured & hope many will visit this lovely little lovingly cared for restaurant for its reliable, tasty food, friendly staff, great atmosphere & vegetarian/vegan options - set in a lovely part of the town, The Birdcage is an asset to Malmesbury. I love their pizzas and desserts, they're definitely the best in town & this is a great place to come to eat - with consistently clean, well cooked food, ideal for families, couples and singles. Long may it last!
