Shepherds Rest - Pub & Grill

Lovely experience at The Shepherds Rest and SO dog friendly! We had a fantastic meal here with our 3 dogs in tow. Danielle was so welcoming, as was a lovely guy (name started with H - but didn’t catch it all) and both made us feel like valued customers. We definitely shall be back! Many thanks! 😊

Got hungry on the way to Costco and hubby said we should give this place a try rather than eat at our usual places. He said he's been here once with workmates and it was good. Glad we listened! Food was surprisingly good and at a good price too. It's a pub lunch I would be happy to come back to.

Shepherd's Rest Pub excelled in every category (food, staff, ambience). We ate here for dinner on two nights (four meals).

The salmon was a really good portion, cooked through yet moist and tender. (We eat a lot of salmon and this meal ranks among the best.)The Haddock was also a good portion with plenty of tender, moist fish with a light crunch batter (definitely more fish than batter). The Mex-style burger was tasty and cooked perfectly (moist but cooked through). The grain salad with chicken was also great. We have been critical of meals elsewhere, but not the food we received at this pub on these two nights.

The staff were super courteous and upbeat. They were also very busy, yet served us quickly. Just took more time to get the bill to pay. Shepherd's Rest has a classic pub ambience (difficult to describe it, right?), which made the meal and experience that much more enjoyable.

One suggestion is to add other salad meal options beyond the current one, such as Caesar/Cos or tossed/house salad meal with choice of a few add-ons (chicken or salmon or prawns, etc.). Also, the slaw side salad should have less dressing and more of the shredded slaw veggies.

We booked a table for Easter Sunday as we expected it to be very busy, but it wasn't too bad.

There was 4 adults and 1 child in our group - we opted for a variety of meals, myself and a pal had their Sunday Roasts - I went for the turkey and my pal the roast beef (specified to make it well done as it's noted as being served "pink").

All the meals went down well and we had left sufficient room for a pudding which was scrummy 😀

This is a standard Greene King pub, no issues with food or the facilities and the staff were attentive.

Will definitely be back at some point.

Been a few times now and love this place. Staff are excellent, really nice, friendly and helpful. Food is also fantastic, really good pub grub, and a step above many similar places. One of my new favourites.

A lovely place to eat. Often go here with my parents and young family. Staff are friendly and always welcoming. Food is consistently good and very reasonably priced.

My family members from Canada wanted to try a Scottish fish and chips. Shepherd Restaurant didn't disappointed. It's one of the best fish we had eaten. The potions were big the fish tasted fresh. Wish they had lamb optionlike lamb shank since we don't eat beef. The staff were very welcoming, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Will definitely 💯 recommend totally.

The food was great! Proper pub food and grill items that tasted great! The service was also lovely, attentive and friendly.

One of the best places to go visit or have a wonderful time with friends. Though it's a bit far from the main city area, it offers exceptional service. Worth going back 😋
They also have options for vegetarians and that's awesome 😊

Had a great meal here, and the food was fantastic. Star of the show was our waiter, Frank. We had a great laugh with him, and he was very attentive to our needs. Overall we had a great time. I would recommend going here for a meal.

Been here a couple times for breakfast, lunch, and dinner while staying at the hotel next door. Never been disappointed with either the food or the great service by an always accommodating staff. Fun and family style - Sunday roast is definitely to swing by for

The food was great for the price and the service was mostly great, we did find that once we'd finished our food it was next to impossible to flag down a member of staff to pay, aside from that it was great

First visit to Shepherds Rest and was very impressed. We chose to sit outside in the very clean and well kept outdoor area. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the food arrived very quickly. The food was hot and well presented, not what I have come to expect from a chain restaurant, and was very tasty.

Good food , friendly staff, nice ambience ideal for an eat out or a few drinks. 5* from me. I will definitely go back

Agnes and the team are great, Had a first class Xmas meal, and our pooch was well looked after. Highly recommend .
