Centuries old pub in Dartmoor, small and full of character, ladies have facilities inside, the Gents is out at the front. Warm on a cold wet night with a lit fire. Food includes vegetarian and basic gluten free meals. Order at the small bar for well cooked, satisfying food. Get the down-to-earth landlord talking (not difficult :) and find a very open and interesting window on local life in the demanding environment of the moor. When we're all being served food and drink by robots in generic roadside boxes we'll remember these places. Recommended.

Brilliant old pub in a quiet rural setting. Still has many of the old features. Good selection of beers, excellent food and friendly staff. Plenty of seating indoors and outside to the front. Small garden to the rear.

A beautiful public house, located in the village vetween Princetown and Ashburton.
The lady behind the bar was chatty and very friendly. A good choice of beer and lager, and an extensive menu. The inn is dated to 1400, with lots of indoor seating and also with tables outside. We chose the pork tenderloin for lunch, which was nicely presented, but the meat was tough and chewy.

Great spot for a treat and relaxing after a long walk. Very friendly customer service and cooked on point gammon steak with egg. Seriously good. Certainly will be back!

We had a wonderful meal at this cosy local pub. There were three of us and we each had a different meal - all great and good value. Sat outside in the early evening sunshine and thoroughly enjoyed our visit - highly recommend!!!

Lovely unpretentious unspoilt old pub; easy-going atmosphere. We shared a good couple of hours and pints chatting on a very quiet Sunday night with the owners Nigel and Sandra, nice hard-working people, next time we'll try the food which looked really good. Cheers guys - look forward to seeing you next time we're down! Simon and Melanie.

Cracking little hidden gem I came across whilst put for a Sunday spin on Dartmoor. I won't spoil it for you..... drop in and discover it's charms for yourself. PS. Plenty of parking directly opposite for 15+ cars.

We've been going here for nearly 30 years. Love it as much as we always have. Only downside- no more Hobgoblin Ale. But that's the breweries fault for changing the recipe. The pub is atmospheric, real old english pu . Not many of those left, sadly.

Found this pub during the otter hunt. Food was excellent, young lady serving was polite and willing to accommodate where possible. Lovely area outside, sat at a table in the pouring rain starting dry, was a lovely experience

A wonderfully traditional pub at the side of the road. Nice big car park. Friendly staff. Open fire. Dogs welcomed. Perfect at the end of a walk for food, drink or even a mulled wine to warm you up at Christmas time.

Took my father (92) for lunch after a drive over the moors. Lovely log fire kept us warm. Good selection of beers and pub food. I had a very nice home made steak & kidney pie.

One of my favourite places to go out for lunch on a rare day off. Lovely characterful building, especially cosy on a cold winters day next to the fire and equally as lovely in the summer in their garden. Food is good wholesome homemade cooking. Very generous portions and excellent value for money. Always come away in a food coma!! Steaks cooked to perfection and the gammon, egg and chips is a fave. Would love to come and try their Sunday roast but unfortunately always working at the weekend….maybe one day. Looking forward to my next visit!
