Bodney Camp

Wow I spent the day yesterday at the annual open day at Bonney Camp, what an experience. It was unbelievably hot and I was concerned for the personnel and horses but the latter were well taken care of, the minute they came out the ring they were bathed before returning to their stable, the soldiers did look hot though. But I’d like to thank them all for taking part to entertain us. Horses were sick of carrots so they came home 😂. I hope they have a lovely summer break and I hope the guys and girls get some time off too. Thank you for making it a day to remember. Oh and for providing water when queuing, that was a lovely gesture. Thank you again.

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment hold their annual Open Day at Bodney Camp, around mid July.
This is a really great day out for the whole family with a full days program full of events.
If it's hot bring a portable gazebo or umbrella as there is little shade to be had.
Usually a nominal fee for entrance (£5).
Loads of horses, riders and associated activities.
Brass band.
Marching band.
Pet and feed horses.
Farrier busy with live demonstrations all day.
Loads of free parking and well martialed.
Portable loos.
Enough food and drink for purchase on the day.
