The Swan Restaurant and Take Away

Oh my word! I’ve been coming to Southport for 50 years and only found this plaice (geddit) today. Simply the best fish and chips in Southport. Great service, great prices and superb food. I’m just gutted I’ve missed out on it for 50 years

I only heard about this place from an article on sky news by Mark birchall the chef from Moor Hall restaurant. We had chips and gravy a month or so back which were fantastic, the gravy not being the same old gravy you get at most chippies. So a week ago we thought we would dine in. The cod was really nice with good batter around it. The homemade steak pie though was superb. I think I preferred it to the fish. The chips and mushy peas were great. We didn't have time for dessert which included homemade cherry crumble and custard so I was gutted about that.
The meals came with a drink and bread. The prices are not expensive at all. My only tiny gripe would be that the size of the haddock and plaice look huge compared to the size of the cod. However we will be back.

Great place for fish and chips in Southport. The restaurant is much bigger than you think. Ate as a table of 9 tonight - had the warmest reception and the best service from our waitress - blonde girl! Chips could be a bit crispier but aside from that flawless! V reasonable too

Just tucked behind the main promenade; We saw so many locals queuing up for takeaways and also eating in their restaurant. We ordered some takeaways for the family.
The Cod is well cooked with light batter and nice chips.
The scampi is freshly prepared and very tasty
The homemade steak pie is a must try
The service is good and very efficient and friendly staff. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area.

The best fish and chips ever would loved to have shown you a picture but this empty plate says it all, succulent fish golden crispy chips and the best mushy peas all in a fabulous traditional setting with such friendly and welcoming staff will definitely be returning

Above all though- the staff here are incredible.Without doubt this place has the friendliest,most helpful and polite staff I've ever witnessed anywhere..
I reserved a table yesterday for my child's birthday- she too has come here since she was a baby! And when we got to restaurant they had a birthday balloon and card on our table!! They even sung happy birthday to her with the cake I'd provided..
It was memorable and so lovely- it meant so much to feel such kindness from staff we are so familiar with..

Hiya I went here yesterday. Had pie and chips gravy. Now we shopping. Amazing. Best chip shop in Southport. All others. Are disgusting frozen chips. I will recommend this to all my customers. I am the manager of silcocks amusement centres. Truly amazing chip shop

Took my 87 year old mother in law here who used to visit with her parents when younger. Couldn't fault it. Food was excellent and the staff were even better. Lovely fresh fish and everything hot. Will 100% be returning next time we are in Southport. Thank you

Had an excellent lightly battered cod fillet lunch here today. I'd heard about the great reviews, so I tried it out for myself and it was every bit as good as they say. Greeted by Catherine and Stella (hard to tell them apart, they're equally as gorgeous), they made me feel properly at home with their beautiful smiles and cheerful personalities. And then they brought me the best fish I've had this year. It was simply perfect. And The Swan itself is a lot more spacious inside than it looks from the exterior. I'll be back for more next week. we normally have take away and have always had the best food ever, but a change was on the cards due to the weather. i had the steak pie dinner and my wife cod and chips. faultless again.. tasty well presented food and good prices.. great feel to the seating/dining area all tables clean and tidy but the service was the best part.. our young server mia was very smart polite and had impeccable manners.. this really made our visit 10/10.. thank you all and happy new year to all staff at THE SWAN..

Amazing chippy in Southport!

The restaurant prices are excellent compared to the high inflation driven food prices currently with set menu meals just over £ 10 including drink!

The staff are friendly and food is great quality....

Magical little place, ate in today and it was perfection. Staff are so very friendly and welcoming and you feel comfortable instantly with such attentive staff. Food is the best, the cod was so fresh, encased in one of the best batters I've ever had, crispy and golden. Chips are equally as good, the whole vibe makes you feel at the seaside, its wonderful.

Fish 'n chips for two, with a pot of tea - lovely. Good friendly service. Will come again. Shuts at 2pm so don't leave it too late!

We had a short wait at lunch time for a table as it's such a popular 'plaice' but it was well worth it. Service was quick and friendly (Stella) and the food was hot and tasty. I was glad to see your 5* cleanliness rating. It's always a good sign to see regulars too.

Wow an amazing chippy. We found this on Google maps. I had the chicken dinner takeaway and hubby had steak pudding chips and curry. Both meals were delicious. Would definitely come again and highly recommend. Sorry no photos couldn’t delay eating it! lol

The best fish&chips we evere had! Cooked to fresh to order. Reasonable price for very good and tasty food. We visit this olace for second time and always coming back! Friendly staff with quick service. Fish is cooked professional and melts in your mouth.

Fantastic chippy just off the main drag. Food tastes great. I had battered haddock, chips and mushy peas and it was lovely. There is lots to choose from on the menu. The rest of my family enjoyed their meals, also.

The staff are really friendly and engaging.

You can takeout or eat in. The seating area is spacious and clean and table service is offered.

Parking is on the road and is pay and display.

This is a classic fish and chips venue. Nothing fancy but very cheerful service and good food. The menu goes beyond fish and one of my colleagues really enjoyed a cheese and onion pie! Price was surprisingly low.
