Recent first time visit with friends for lunch.
The food was delicious, I missed getting most of the pics as people tucked straight in!
Tapas lunch menu was very reasonable for the amount per dish.
Coffee came with a little sweet treat , which was delicious and much better than the usual standard biscuit you get in some places, a real surprise. (Lemon Cannoli)
Chap who served us was friendly and the service was quick.

Bottomless brunch today was absolutely perfect for our best friend’s birthdays celebrations! Lia and James went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and stocked with drinks throughout! Can’t wait to come back 🥰

Wow! Just had THE finest steak burger with to die for chips! (Not forgetting the cheese dip!) We also had the Spicy Chorizo pizza, which had crushed peanuts and honey on top, which was amazing! In fact my wife and I couldn't decide which one to have, so we had half of each! The staff are brilliant, helpful and friendly and the food is sourced locally wherever they can. This is a real gem for the town, so we must make sure we support it! 10/10 from me! 👍🏻😋

First visit to social kitchen for brunch. Delicious food. Had the poached eggs with bacon and avocado on FRESH sour dough. Taste and present spot on. 10/10. Tasty flat whites paired with a delicious cannoli. Service could not be faulted. Amazing service from Heather who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and spent time to chat with us. Hugely friendly atmosphere. Will definitely be back for the pancakes and bottomless brunch! Heather also recommended the steak burger for our visit! Cannot wait to dip everything in cheese!

Really nice place. Not too large, entrance is a door on the street directly upstairs where the restaurant is.
A lot of options on the menu, we had a few tapas dishes, wings were really good, burger as well. Very friendly service, we were a big group and they were able to fit us in.
Great place, highly recommended!

Wow! Where do I start, what an amazing place to eat. From the minute you get in where you are warmly welcomed by the staff, to the beautiful interior with the lovely view out over the clock tower and the food is simply a taste sensation. I ordered the steak and also ordered the peppercorn sauce usually like to smother the steak in the sauce and dip my chips in it too. I didn't use the sauce! Nothing wrong with it, it was beautiful. But the steak was so perfectly cooked and full of flavour it didn't need a sauce and the chips..... well they were just the best chips ever and did not need to be dipped in anything. This is a great asset to the town of Newton Abbot and I will be back. Next time to try their lunchtime menu and some tapas which all sounded very yummy.

Social is a beautiful restaurant, bar in the heart of Newton with lively interesting decor (I would share pictures but wouldn’t want to spoil your wandering eyes when you go) and a lovely view of the clock tower.
Social stands on its own merits in regards to the food and drinks. Unique to Newton in that food of this quality is not readily available.

Lia was a very bubbly and lovely host. Despite us walking in 10 minutes before kitchen close was happy to take our order with a smile. She also gave the perfect amount of interaction in regards to check ins taking orders and leaving us to have our own conversations.

The drinks were also exceptional and original in that we’ve not seen them before in the picture left is Royal English Breakfast and while small was packed with flavour. On the right and close you see the poppy seed sour which was also divine but not at all as I expected it to taste.

The food was really the stand out. The steak was cooked perfectly and the garnishing chips, and veg was very tasty and fresh. I also opted for the garlic prawns which were sensational in taste.
The pizza was also very nice, albeit slightly heavy on the cheese but this is just a preference of my partner and something to note for next time.

Overall the price is slightly more than a typical pub grub which is available close by but very in line with other sit down restaurants nearby.

To put this into perspective the pizza was £15 and the steak and additional prawns £25 roughly. Drinks were 2 for £16. However the quality was extraordinary so if you were to ask me between picking paying an extra £10-£20 in comparison to somewhere like wether-spoons, it’s entirely worth it to go to Social.
We will be back.
Karl and Lucy.

Had a fabulous experience yesterday evening eating at the Social Bar and Kitchen. The service was excellent and really friendly and accommodating. The food was superb and plentiful. Chef very kindly adapted a couple of the dishes for a special dietary requirement which was amazing . I’ve been to the Social bar several times now with friends and family and never been disappointed . In my view everything about it is perfect.

My boyfriend and I visited Social Bar at the weekend to celebrate his birthday - we were greeted by friendly, attentive staff members that were so helpful throughout, I cannot thank them enough for their hard work and friendliness!

We chose a range of tapas for dinner and they were unbelievably tasty - good size portions too.

The staff here also helped me with my partners surprise of his friends turning up after dinner and were quick with the drinks throughout, as well as sorting out the cake and candles I had brought in and bringing this in singing for me.

We had an amazing evening and made some great memories - cannot recommend this place enough and a massive thankyou to the staff working that night for making it so special.

Visited this place on a whim for cocktails and dinner after exploring Newton Abbot. Really liked the look of the place, very well put together and a nice vibe. The quality of the food was perfect, couldn't fault it even if I was pressed to. The prices were fair and the service was spot on, perfect blend of attentiveness and service with a smile, without being overbearing. We'll definitely be back the next time we're down this way. Special thanks to Lia for looking after us, she's a credit to you!

Leah's exceptional service at the restaurant made our experience. Her attentiveness and fun demeanor was welcome. Combined with the delectable tapas, her excellent service enhanced the overall enjoyment of our meal. We look forward to returning. This was my second visit. I live locally and for anyone visiting the area or not been out for a while - I highly recommend you take a visit. The Tapas is amazing and the cocktails are unique. All tasty! Dogs are also welcome during the day. 👍🏻

My girlfriend and I dropped in here for dinner on a Thursday night, with nothing to go on but the excellent Google reviews. After a few days of camping we were keen for a big, tasty meal and Social Bar and Kitchen really delivered. The decor is a nice balance of fun and formal and the food was very tasty, with a good selection and generous portions. My girlfriend loved her pineapple margarita! The biggest highlight, though, was Robin (Robyn?) and Leah (Lia?), our wait staff who were super friendly, chatty, kind and upbeat, and were genuinely invested in our having a nice time at the restaurant. We ended up coming back for breakfast the next day, which was very good value (especially compared to at home in London!) and delicious. The coffee was especially good. Thanks to everyone at Social Bar and Kitchen, and hopefully we'll see you again when we're next back in Newton Abbot.

We had to come here during our stay in newton abbot after seeing the reviews and they weren't wrong! Felt instantly welcomed and comfortable as soon as we came in and were met by one of the lovely members of staff. The food (we had tapas) was incredible, great portion sizes for the price - particularly recommend the steak and the halloumi fries. Everything about this place is lovely, it is family run and really does give that vibe, we felt well looked after! Made me wish I lived in newton abbot!

Came here for lunch with a friend after I’d visited with my family. My friends first time dining here and we are both very impressed. Food was amazing, presented beautifully and tasted fantastic. And the service was so comforting. (Excuse me if I get the names wrong) Jasmine served us as first and was so lovely, got our drinks and food quickly and made conversation when we were admiring the decor. Later on we met the owner Kane, he answered a lot of our questions about the place and food; and definitely added to the service with a laugh which made it feel so homely. This place is relatively new but I’m sure will go along way. Thank you to the both of you for a great late afternoon lunch!

After finding this little gem around 6 months It is now my go to place when looking to eat out. The food is insanely good, best food I’ve had out and the standard is faultless each visit. The staff are absolutely lovely and go above and beyond to give you a good service. I Cannot recommend enough!

Lovely revamp of a local restaurant. Funny art work.
Our server James could not be faulted. Ty!
As a group of three, 2 of us opted for the 3 for £13 lunchtime tapas and the other a lunchtime chicken burger.
The rosemary buttermilk chicken was wonderful in the tapas and burger options, so soft and light.
The skin on chips were amazing! Chunky, soft and golden (and I mean golden).
Portions of the white bait and calamari were generous.
The mac and cheese had at least a 2 foot cheese pull!
Soft drinks menu had a good choice and was competitively priced.
Over all a great first visit, hopefully one of many!
