The Woodside - eat / drink / stay

My husband and several our friends (several other couples) stayed 3 nights at the Woodside in June 2024. Wow! What an amazing experience. Our rooms were comfortable, food and drinks excellent, but the service was beyond amazing! Lynn was our hostess for most of our stay, and from breakfast to dinner to detailing out the best walking tour from our hotel, she was incredible! We have not had that personal of service in a long time—-thank you Lynn! We enjoyed our walking tour to Doune Castle (a must for Outlander and Monty Python fans) and our quiet stay in Doune. We could not believe such a fabulous breakfast was included and that we could enjoy dinner there each evening and not have to drive to head ‘home’. Would definitely come back!

A really excellent hotel for us. The room was small but excellent. Could not fault it. We really appreciated the snacks in the room - that was a warm and thoughtful treat.
The food here was nothing short of spectacular. Applause for the chef and the kitchen team.
The staff were excellent and we would certainly return. We enjoyed watching the France Spain match enjoyed some drinks during it.
The only comment , not a criticism, is that some option for fresh fruit salad (grapes, blueberries) would be wonderful for the muesli / yoghurt which is already available.

Me and my friends come down for a pint or two almost once a week and it has been great every time. Prices are slightly higher than a pub but remember, this isn't a pub! This is a very well furnished restaurant with a great bar and outdoor seating area. This is also a great location for anyone going up north and in need of a stop for a night travelling from down south.

This place was highly recommended by the people working at Doune Castle. There is parking on site. When you walk in, it feels bright, airy, and spacious. The staff is super friendly. Our server was fabulous. We showed up 30 minutes before lunch would be served and decided to go ahead and have breakfast instead of waiting. We were sat next to the window with excellent light and a view of the drizzly weather. I ordered an Irish coffee that was made with whisky from a local distillery and the bacon, avocado, and egg on toast. My husband had a soft drink and the Scottish breakfast. Everything came out quickly and was both beautiful and delicious. Highly recommend this place for a quick and cozy meal.

Stopped off for a bite and a cuppa when was out for a ride on the bikes , friendly staff polite very tidy place , nice wee place to go to watch the world go by. Food was great tea was good proper leaves tea you don't get that everyday , yea will definitely visit again next time up that way again

Great food as always. Service was so good and very friendly. Super clean high chair and toddler friendly cups which makes a difference.
Would be useful to have baby changing in both male and female toilets or in accessible toilet.

We've been here a couple of times for breakfast and been really impressed. The service, food and setting are all great. Can't wait to come back and try dinner!

Good food in a very pleasant informal setting. Very family friendly and sensible prices. The staff were really friendly and professional. Well worth a visit.

It was a wedding reception.. food was excellent..as was the service. Nice location and well set out seating with outdoor areas. Good car parking.

Went for a quick lunch. Food was delicious, and the service couldn't have been more pleasant. Didn't know there were rooms or we would have stayed!

Booked table for 3 for dinner.
Arrived early and was seated to have a drink, until table ready. Lovely surroundings, service excellent and food delicious.
We had popped in to see Doune Castle. Location used in GOT, Monty Pythons Holy Grail and used in Outlander.

Fantastic experience June 2023, late in the evening, very hungry family. They found some room for the 5 of us. Delicious meals, great prompt service. Happily recommend

The best hotel we stayed at in Scotland. It's completely renovated and like new. The place is beautiful. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant has excellent food. We enjoyed sitting downstairs by the fire. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. We had the perfect stay.

We had not previously stayed, or dined at The Woodside but were delighted to have found this gem of a hotel, which we consider to be excellent value. The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive, and our room was spotlessly clean, cosy, warm and comfortable. We enjoyed our evening meals in the restaurant, which has a lovely atmosphere and a good menu. Breakfasts were excellent and substantial. We couldn't have enjoyed our stay more and will certainly stay again. Highly recommended!
