Excellent service & range of services

Great local convenience store + Post office. Stocks a range of products (sweets, snacks, newspapers & magazines, food, drinks (including milk & alcohol)

Friendly staff. Counter can be used late into the evening to post parcels outside of regular post office hours. Reasonable selection of cheap alcoholic drinks and regular offers on all products.

Fairly useless as a Post Office. Front counter is NEVER open - always the same excuse, 'I haven't been trained" so don't bother attempting to post anything outside of standard hours. There's really no point in even having the front counter 🤷‍♂ - go to Tollesbury instead - a great store run properly.

Whatever have they done to this place!? 20+ minutes waiting to get to the post office counter, one staff member manning the shop and post office. Something needs to change here

I would give 0 stars if I could.
Firstly, as I walked in the middle aged lady who was working in the shop took a good 5 minutes to acknowledge me and come over to the tillpoint.
Secondly, she had the most disgusting attitude i have ever seen on any customer service representative.
She was so rude, had the audacity to say “the position is closed can’t you see?” (Was the main tills by the way)
Then she said that she isn’t trained properly and can’t put money into bank accounts. When I said “oh that’s inconvenient” in a smiley way she prooceded to walk away smirking and shout saying “NO NOT REALLY, WE ARE POST OFFICE WE GIVE GOOD SERVICE” which I found so confusing as she just didn’t make sense. She clearly was racist and thought she can pick an argument with someone to make her day better. I don’t know what generation she still lives in but this is absolutely unacceptable. She has made me (a pregnant woman) very annoyed for absolutely no reason. I will be taking this further.

I understand she may not know how to do this but I don’t understand why she is even working in a post office if she is not willing to be educated on how to deposit money onto a card? Quite pointless really! How long could you go on without getting trained and getting mad at customers because you want to be lazy?!

Friday morning 26/06 7am looking through the door 3 people waiting at the till, went inside then a 4th person appeared from behind the shelving down the Post Office end.
That makes FIVE people inside more than 2 meters apart.
"Too many people in the store one of you needs to go" was the curt and impolite drone from the woman behind the till.
Yes it's me, I went & will not be coming back.
Maybe she is the owner, if not she needs another vocation outside the public service sector.

Twice I've posted things at the front desk when the main Post Office is shut, and TWICE I've not had the item delivered. It was the same guy on the counter too, dodgy goings on perhaps?!
