Recently brought in Clubcard-only price scheme. I often forget to scan my Tesco card at the till & just tap the contactless on my debit card once the staff have scanned everything through, & assume the discounts are applied at the till like every other store I have ever been to, which then ends up charging me all the overinflated prices (bumped up to encourage you to get a clubcard) & there is no way they can reverse it. Staff don't ask if you have a Clubcard to scan to apply the 'discount' prices (possibly intentional to make more money out of the locals?).

Shocking tactic taking advantage of the current normal system we have where loyalty cards are used for points (for future discounts), and in-store deals are applied as discount at the till. This store does not work this way. When I'm coming home after a hard days work, I'm on auto-pilot and I just shop like I would in any other shop, pick the deals, & hit my debit card on the contactless. I keep forgetting to open the app and scan the barcode to apply my discounts at the till, so end up being scammed, more than once now.

At the end of the day this has been brought in predominately to get people signed up so they can obtain your personal data & shopping habits for personalised marketing. Load of nonsense. Just put it back to what it was & let people use a clubcard if they want for loyalty points only.
